if someone claims that they drive as fast on a back road as they do at the track/autox, they belong to one of the following 3 groups

a. they're lying have have never actually been to the track
b. they're pathetically slow at the track
c. they're absolutely insane and put they're own and other's life at risk, nobody, and i mean nobody has any business driving that fast on a public road
I do believe what you've said above is absolutely true! I especially like the a,b,c catagories Today, after watching an imbecile drive 70+ on city streets I had a thought. That is, I've never driven terribly fast on the streets and have never been on a track. As stated above, if you're not on a track, wake the ^(*& up and stop fantasizing. Go to the track to drive that way. I would love to do the autox thing. But now you got me thinking I'll hate being on the the regular street after.

Lack of info....What year HR do you have? '07, '08 or '09 roadster? I assume you have a '07. But I would like to know if you've had the stuff replace on a HR other than a '07. THX

Sup guys? I just bought my '07 a few months ago and compiled a list of things I've noticed about the car since I got it. Some of them I noticed because of what I read in this thread so far. Right now the car has 28,000 miles on it.

I took the car to the dealer today to see if they could fix my issues and of course they fixed nothing lol. So here is my complaint, what the dealer said, and my question to you guys about the situation. If any of you have had any luck in getting this stuff fixed, any advice/info is much appreciated!

1) Bouncy tach needle. Read about this here.. definitely noticed it.
--After they drove a Z on their lot, dealer said that it was "normal" for a 350Z and that they couldn't do anything about it.
**I know I saw at least one of you with this issue and I think you said it was replaced.. did it fix the situation? Have any of you other guys noticed this or gotten it fixed?
2) High pitched noise from rear right. It is faint but I can definitely always hear it if it's quiet and listen for it. Sometimes I notice it w/out even trying. High pitched noises have always bothered me though. Every once and a while I will notice one coming from an electronic such as a TV or Computer and it's definitely there.. I'm not crazy. At work my PC did this and I made them replace it.. definitely was the PC making the noise...
--Dealer said that they couldn't hear it. Well I'm sure they couldn't in the freaking shop with air tools going all around them. They also probably didn't try very hard. I realize I'm being a little nit-picky but I think I'm being fair since I can always hear it.
**Have any of you other guys noticed this? Any idea what it's coming from? Fuel pump?
3) Weak hatch shocks. They won't lift the hatch themselves but do hold it up.
--When the car was new, did it lift the hatch?
**Dealer said they could only replace if they were completely blown and the hatch didn't stay up. I don't mind lifting the hatch myself, but I have a feeling that they're going out but obviously won't blow out completely until after the warranty runs out... sigh.
4) Clutch pedal spring makes a popping noise sometimes when I let the pedal out.
--I know others have noticed this but it's not a big concern to me. Still of course dealer said they couldn't replicate it.
5) Loud transmission whine in first. I noticed this right when I got the car, especially when I was cruising in a quiet parking deck. Now I never notice it but probably just because I'm used to it.
--Dealer said they didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
**This isn't a big issue to me as I have a feeling that it's just a loud transmission and that's how it is. Any info on that?
6) Rough clutch pedal engagement in 1st when going slow up-hill. If I am going slow in traffic up a steep hill, each time I press in the clutch pedal while in 1st gear there is a pretty big clunk and shake in the transmission/shifter/car. Definitely seemed out of the ordinary and nothing I've ever experienced in a car before.
--Dealer said they couldn't replicate problem.
**Any of you other guys have this issue?
7) Doesn't like to go into second gear when cold. I can get it into 2nd but takes a good bit of force.. sometimes more than I'm comfortable with. Typically I just skip 2nd all together until the transmission warms up. Technically, it doesn't mind as much if I'm driving in 1st and then go into 2nd. But if I'm just rolling in neutral and then go for 2nd, that's when it really doesn't want to go in to gear.
--Dealer said they couldn't replicate the problem. They probably didn't let the car get cold enough though. They also said that sometimes thicker transmission fluid can cause this.
**The previous owner did in fact replace the transmission fluid with some Amsoil, not sure which weight though. I'll have to check on that. Is it true what they are telling me about the fluid? Why would that only affect 2nd gear though and not the others?

Ok sorry about the long post and thanks for any help!!

i had a high-pitched squealing sound coming from my right-rear... two things happened: my mechanic greased up the swaybar bushing/endlink and that eliminated about 70% of the noise. though most of the time i heard it was with the windows down, and it's definitely been too cold to test it lately haha. next, my right rear brake pad retainer clip eventually failed (stock pads, stock brembos), caused more of a grinding sound but at first it sounded a lil squealy. hope that helps, try the swaybar bushing/endlink first.

Thanks for the tips but that is a different sort of issue. I am sure this is some sort of electronic issue. Plus the high pitched noise is constant.. even if the car is just sitting still. =/

23k, Technosquare F-Tune. Bought it new.

Issues -

Transmission replaced after I took it in for the loud grinding/rattling noise it was making in neutral with the clutch engaged. The new trans whines in 1st, especially when cold, but I'm relieved to hear it's not just me. Shifting on transmission #2 is buttery in all gears when it would be notchy on the old one.

The stock tires make the car sound like a washing machine at 30 mph and at freeway speeds. Really annoying, especially when the Honda Accord I borrow sometimes is almost silent by comparison.

TPMS acting up. Soemtimes blinks the light after a while on the freeway, sometimes it doesn't.

The popping sound from the clutch pedal, as far as I can tell, is a spring loaded position switch engaging and disengaging.

08 5at, 4500 miles.

I haven't had any major issues yet but here are the ones I've noticed-

1. My rev needle starts to fluctuate a lot, especially after I step on it (lightly floor it). It will go up and then kinda start bouncing back and forth, it's hard to explain online.

2. There are lots of random noises that come and go. I'm not sure if they are due to my headers or hfcs but every once in a while I get to hear a new sound.

3. Sometimes I'll have a passenger and the passenger air bag off sign will be on.

4. The radio/cd player turns on by itself.

Well that's all I could think of for now.

I've had a high pitch whine coming from the rear of my car randomly. I can recreate it but it makes no sense. I start the car and drive a short distance then shut it off before it warms up. I let it sit for a few minutes then start it up again and there will be a loud whine. If I shut the car off and then immediately back on the whine is gone. As far as I can tell the sound is coming from the fuel pump.

pretty sure the hatch shocks were never meant to lift the hatch, just hold it up

Correct, although he is probably alluding the numerous issues involing the hatches actually HOLDING the trunk open correctly and not slowly (or quickly, lol) crashing it down on your head/fingers etc .

3,4,5,6 and 7 are all normal. Just a suggestion, I NEVER try to shift fast anymore from 1st to 2nd because everytime i've tried, i always end up grinding. and no i'm not stupid, yes i have the clutch all the way down

i have 07 base model with 60,500 miles.

So far, the only major issue i have is the sputtering issue. If you don't know what i'm talking about see the "sputtering" thread in the HR section.

Other then that just normal wear and tear. As a suggestion to people that have newer models or low miles, just be careful with your door handle(inside the car, by the window switches). Over time holding things in your hands like keys and etc will scratch up that terribly weak rubber. don't place big bulky things in your hatch because the plastic back there does scratch easily, and...that's all i can think of for now.

Question

Just curious, how many of you guys have a notchy 2nd gear? I just bought a 07 6MT Z33 with 20K (no problems so far ) and it seems that regardless of how slow/fast I shift I am always dealing with a notchy 2nd gear . The rest of the gears are as smooth as butter though. Has going with a different trans fluid helped the situation? Thanks.
