HR - Aftermarket Clutch & Flywheel
Southbend clutches are great, just FYI for anyone in here that maybe skeptical about the brand. I had one in my srt4 and i loved every second of it. never slipped and ran it on my 400hp srt4 for 45k.
CuztompartZ, Don't know if it's too early to inquire, but do you have an rough date as to when your HR clutch and flywheel will be avaliable for purchase? Also, would you have an estimated price for each? I won't hold you to anything
I'm in no rush either.

Basically as soon as I hear back from DTracing. We have them done just waiting on feedback. Don't want to sell a product untill we know 100% it works correclty. We are still waiting on the toner rings for the flwheel but that's anytime.
Forgive me for bumping an old thread but I don't want to start another thread since my questions fall into this category.
Does anyone know any A/M clutch that has a super light flywheel like the tilton unit?
Somthing like this:

Or does anyknow if Exedy Comp R or Comp D has a version for the HR??

(besides stage one and two that are only a little lighter), tilton doesn't make anymore clutches and flywheel for the 350z (and was for the DE anyway at 8K$... more or less)
some vendor would be really nice to put one of these on scales and measure the flywheel, the cover and the assembly.
the Hypersingle is not offered for HR's IIRC
as for individual component weight, it's sort of inconsequential as all of these integrated type clutches can only be used as units. You cannot mix and match the components

After my slave failed on me for the 4th time within the 5 months that i've had my Spec Twin Clutch installed, I'm convinced that their pressure plate is an 03 - 06 style pressure plate. I called up their tech and they said that their pressure plate is an original design and does not follow the 03 - 06 style pressure plate. I sent them pictures with measurements that they requested. I'm waiting for a reply from them. This is ridiculous. I've spent close to $800.00 on slave cylinders and towing fees.
Here are some pics that I sent them:

Also, my dad tried to solve the problem by creating a spacer. It helped a little bit, but eventually the slave failed again!

You would think after dropping 1100.00 on a clutch/flywheel combo, that the R&D behind the product would be guaranteed. SPEC FTL!

Its really not the clutch. The problem is the slave, They cannot handle the extra load created by the heavier pressure plate and the seal will fail shortly after installing because it gets torn up from the added pressure.
Actually this clutch has the bent fingers to hit the OE slave in the right position.
I have one of my prototype slaves in a car with the spec twin now and are in the testing process to see how it holds up.

Use the stock clutch.
The load created by the aftermarket clutches kills the OE slave.
The OE slave works ok with the stock clutch as the load is much less.
I have a new southbend clutch kit that I have been using in a few cars with a lighter bearing load than normal to see how it holds up with it.
While still holding more TQ than the stock clutch this kit has been ok so far after 8,000 miles with no slave failure.
I still don't like the stock slave but is is holding up with this new kit I have available.
Like I said I have another slave out in testing also to see how it will hold up with the heavier clutch kits like the spec, jwt, DXD SS ect.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone try out the AP racing slave cyclinder? I don't know the exact model but I am sure there are something that will fit!??

Those require about a 1" master cylinder to throw far enough to release a OE clutch configuration. They work with a tilton or QM clutch because those don't require the throw to fully release that a stock style or upgraded single disk clutch do.
There are about a dozen other reasons why they won't work also.....

When will your prototype slave be ready for production? How much will it cost?
I just priced a stock clutch assembly from the dealer and it came up to $774.00!! I don't think I want to pay that amount for a clutch setup, but I don't want my car to be down either. It's been out for 2 weeks now.
None of those have enough throw with the factory size master cylinder and the clutch won't release.
