HR - Aftermarket Clutch & Flywheel
Yeah Ace, I know that
That's why I said I was considering buying the 370z and swapping OEM components into the 350z but then I need to own both vehicles at once and that means I can't use the money from the 350 for a down payment on the 370.
I'm just gonna forget about the switching cars and focus on paying off the 350z. Spend a couple months of solid work and get it payed off completely. I only owe 10k on it and it's and '08 so I'm happy.
Besides the more I look at the 370z and the Z in general the less I want one. It's such a complete production car. I feel I want a project car. I think I will sell my Z buy a 72 Firebird or 70s 280z and put all the body panels on a chromoly tube chassis, etc... I was thinking put an LS series engine in it but an RB26 would be lulzy (for the Firebird). I think I will stick with an american engine though I like the power at lower RPM.

You should add pix of your Camaro to your garage so I can see your car without cluttering up this thread.

Just ordered new clutch kit with flywheel..
After i bought a car, under 500 miles, clutch just start to slipp.Seller probably just "fixed" clutch for selling!
here in Croatia i have 2 options, helix clutch and flywheel and clutchmasters combo!
Ordered Clutchmasters(fx400) because is only available, and cost me 2600$(i know price in USA and iam really dissapointed with my shop)
Now i only want to know,is someone of you guys use Clutchmasters fx400 and how it works?
OEM is more expencive here and waiting time for flywheel at Nissan Croatia is 30-45 days (1000$ price), 1200$ for clutch and plate, and 300$ for throw out bearring,so i decidet to go with clutchmasters solution!
Regards

FX400 is a puck clutch, It is going to drive pretty bad on starts, Chatter ect.
Clutchmaster are not bad clutches in general but the kit you chose is good for drag racing and not so much for everyday street driving, Pretty rough clutch.

Here you go, Took the time to try a few different flywheels in our 370Z over the last few weeks, The South Bend is definitely the quietest available.
The 18lb unit is VERY loud under 2500 RPM under load and rattles like a worn out diesel at idle.
The South Bend is completely quiet at idle and rattles some under 2500 RPM under load with a rigid disk, It is quieter with a sprung hub clutch and not bad at all compared to the 18lb units which are unbearable to me.
18LB AC* (Yes I said 17lb in the video)

South Bend DXD Flywheel Below available from us. This was taken with our Rigid hub TZR clutch kit which is a bit louder than the sprung hub clutches.

Nice side by side video comparison.
From the thread https://my350z.com/forum/nismo-350z/...-flywheel.html it shows the stock flywheel at 12.5 kg, or 27.56 lbs. From the ZSpeed website, it mentions a reduction of over 7 lbs for the DXD flywheel compared to stock. So I'm guessing the weight of the DXD is around 20 lbs or so. That's pretty good considering it's a couple lbs away from the 18 lbs. I'm assuming design has a lot to do with it, but does weight (i.e. 2 lbs) make that much of a difference as far as chatter?

DXD is exactly 25 lbs now, stock is close to 32
I am sure the material has a lot to do with it also, The South Bend flywheels are milled from 4140 billet steel, The others are stamped out steel from? They ring when you tap on them because they are so thin to make them lighter. The South Bend has lots of meat behind the friction area of the disk to dissipate heat.

Just picked up and installed the South Bend flywheel with the TZR clutch in my 2007 350z. I also put in the Heavy Duty CSC from Joe at zspeed. It has been ~550 miles so far and it is pretty much the best clutch setup I have used to date. Highly recommend the parts and thumbs up for Joe!

Where is your mileage at now and do you have a stock setup besides? Also, how is the clutch feeling? Does it pull or feel high torque? Is it smooth etc... Let me know, thanks! I'm trying to decide on a clutch to go with the HD CSC...

I'm thinking of doing the same... I have a stock HR 07 Nismo but the previous owner had installed an ACT SSHD clutch which obviously has cooked my CSC twice now since I've had it from the 16k/mi point.... 40k now, CSC failed at 27k previously but I was in wi and my hands were tied in regards to fixing it properly, so I just had a dealer put a new slave in, figuring that HD clutch was probably going to fry the CSC again...

I don't know what clutch/flywheel to go with for my '03 350Z with a SC and ~400 Lbt/tq. I am not tracking my car, some times street racing. Some people recommended me SPEC stage3+ but I found some reviews not too good. I can't buy OS Giken because it is too expensive, so what kit would be good and OEM feel like for about $1000 ?
