Are running stock 18" wheels?
If so,this combo would work to give you a wider look and keep
your diameters within the proper tolerances:

255/40/18 front
275/40/18 rear

Thats about as big as you can go on a 18" wheel.

You may have a problem finding those sizes in the tire of your choice.

The wheel "size" is of little relevance to how "big" he can go. The overall width doesn't change all that much based upon wheel size. The section width does and that will be based upon rim width.

Folk erroneously believe that the rim diameter has an impact on section width. It doesn't. It also doesn't have a significant impact on overall diameter. As the rim diameter increases, the section height decreases to keep a wheel and tire set up within spec.

vendors are trying to keep everything within range.

gotcha--the tire sizes I suggested will fit his Z with 18" wheels.
I believe the tread width will be larger than the stock size tires he mentioned

The BBS wheel,what...8.5" width?(front).
The 40 series tire option should work on those wheels.
Possibly is the rear wheel 9.5"?That would be better.

That is a tire size, you need to post a wheel size ( example 18x9.5 +15)

18 is diameter
9.5 width
15 is offset

assuming you are going to run normal size tires, the fronts will look flush but the rear won't look flush unless you add a 10-20mm spacer.

that would be good. fronts would be flush while the rear might need a 10-20mm spacer.

if you're at stock height I know for a fact you won't. If you're lowered at all then yes you would either need to do some fender pulling or get some adjustable camber arms.

Yes, I see what you mean. My car handles better now with the 255s up front.
