So today I finally bought some new wheels and tires for my 2007 350z.

Went with a set of Avid1 AV6. Rocking a 18x9.5 on 235/40R18s on the front and a 18/10.5 on 275/35ZR18s

Today when I went to install them I ran into some fitment issues. This old on my break discs seem to be in the way. Wondering if this thing is needed or if people have had issues on the past getting wheels to fit with that bolt in the way. The stock wheels obviously fit fine, but I don’t see where it would be an issue on the newer wheels.

That is there to keep idiots from putting the oem back wheels on the front. If I remember correctly, you can wedge a flat tip screwdriver under it while backing it out, or worst case cut it off

 

Use a (12mm?13mm?) wrench and some WD40 on that threaded stub to remove it.

What is a concern leads to my asking "who recommended those tire sizes?"

A 235/40 front is 0.47" shorter than stock and the rear 275/35 is 1.1" shorter.

It'll work but will throw off speedo (not a big deal) but creates a large amount of wheel gap as well.

Also (and this is key), if you have VDC, you'll likely run into slip errors given that the ECM is looking for a 3% (+/- 0.25%) delta in F-R tire sizes and the delta is much less than that with these sizes. (If no VDC, not too big of a deal.)

 

255/40/18 x 275/40/18 would of made everything even.
Went up an inch and a half wheel diameter to add 10mm of tires in the front

 

This^^ Most common setup for upsized (width) 18s. (Or 245/40 front)
