1. Nice post Kcobean, good to see both sides of this issue.

2. Everytime I read another page of this thread, I realize for the most part it just keeps getting worse and worse.

Nothing wrong with parents helping out their kids. This is my reward for maintaining a 4.0GPA freshman year of college, Id say thats just about as valid as working a full time job and paying for it myself (even though I am putting up 5K as is.) If this issue is being spoiled, I assure you, I am not. Besides that, hate on haters, hate on...
I just did some online shopping and realized that one could buy a '99-'00 Boxster for 19k, so...that's a "Porsche", right?

Hey, just kidding. Ehhhrr...mah Geritol mus' be wearin' off... where's that bottle?

Again, I know a lot of parents that do all KINDS of "helping out" when it comes to their kids, not saying that it's right or wrong. And why stop at cars? Yeah, what about HOMES?

"What's that? Newport Beach? $1.7 million? Well, son, since you just got married, I want you start off on the 'right foot'. Will they take a check?"

"Thanks, dad. You know...I love you, man."

LOL.....I'm near Leesburg. When you say Cville, is that Centerville or Charlottesville? Big difference!

Been working since I was 16 years old saving every single paycheck for this car. I have $14000 saved up and got the 15000 loan by myself, no my dad did not cosign. I'm 18 now, & I'm about to buy a brand new 2006 enthuathist in the next couple weeks. I will be paying for gas, insurance, monthly payments and of course the downpayment.

Sweet man, good for you. I just dont understand what this whole thing about buying it is about. Who cares who bought the Z? Obviously they were educated enough to choose a great car for the money. And whether it the parents buying it or not still makes no difference. Young or old if you cant drive a car correctly, there are gonna be problems.

And if the parents are paying for it...props to the kid for taking advantage of the situation. I would have loved a Z when I was younger and I sure as hell would have taken one if my parents bought one for me. Hello! Free bad*** car! Who would turn it down? I can guarantee that if anyone in this forum had their parents offer them a free Z at 18yrs of age. You would have taken it. Just dont hate on the younger kids who have one.

Half you guys in this thread act like the Z is some exotic car that should be only exclusive to certain people. Well, sorry to have to tell you guys. You can easily get one under 30K brand new, which makes it easily attanable by those with lower incomes (including young drivers' that still get an allowance) So get over it and bring your inflated Z owning ego back down to Earth.

A Z owner is a Z owner Young or Old. IMO

You can't blam kids for their parents buying them a car like Driven1 said, no one is going to turn down a free or almost free car! Now these parents buying their kids a brand new car is stupid! They will never learn anything from it, they will drive it like my ex drove all her cars, until the car would not go any more. When it dies they'll get another to trash. Those that worked hard to buy their own car(s) are more likely to take care of it and not trash it. Now some people are too rich and not buying their kid a "new" car would make the kids a social outcast. I say so be it!
