If this is what it would look like, sign me up. The visual cues suggesting 240-280Z are there in the quarter windows, headlights - that take some cues (but flush for aero now) from the headlight nacelles that defined the front end of the S30, the big flares that look like the IMSA Zs of the 70s but now look normal and natural on contemporary "widish body" sports cars like Z33-34, Porsche 901, etc.
Add to that the modern deep grill and what appear to be functional front valance brake vents AND the requisite 6-potters behind 19" wheels. Plus, an overall proportion that speaks to the 280Z.
Dare I say.... Of all the hacky sack designs with masturbatory fantasy renderings I've seen thus far that have tried to incorporate the old school look, well, this is the best one IMO. Like I said, where do I sign and make a deposit for a Nismo version?
And this all from a pretty reliable, in-the-know source..... Bring it on!
I'm curious what the price point would be for Nissan to make some money off the next Z. Thoughts? I just hope they don't continue the trend of asking too much and pricing themselves out of the competition.

I'm guessing they'll offer a NA and TT version like the old 300zx. NA starting around 35, TT 45, and Nismo will come in around 55. I'm sure they will have to undercut the Supra if they want to compete, a manual would help as well.
I think Nissan should make at most 3 trim levels of the new Z and try for a retro look.
I think they'll end up with four, not including verts. Base, Sport/Track, Touring, and NISMO. Probably a vert version of Base and Touring. 7MT and maybe an 8AT. Base and Touring with a V6, Sport/Track and NISMO with either a boosted V6 or a V8. That would be ideal for me and would definitely get me back in a Z... especially if it looks like this:

Having just completed a test drive of the 2020 Supra, it's one helluva nice sportscar that must be a target for Nissan's new Z car. The BRUTAL TRUTH is the Z must soundly beat the BMW-Toyota product in pricing. While there's a possibility Nissan would engineer a NA version, I'd bet that if the VR30DETT is the powerplant used, it'll be the only power option for such a limited production line. Nissan would also need to federalize the engine with the six-speed gearbox (don't hold your breath on a brand new manual) and would start the base 400Z at $42,995. All Z35 models will be FI, with the next version coming it at $45,995 with leather interior, upgraded nav/stereo and GT equipment (think touring model). The top of the Z line will be the NISMO 400Z starting at $51,995 and it MUST have performance targets to eclipse the Supra
I'm hoping this trend spreads to other Japanese brands. Mazda brings in the RX-9 (that isn't a giant POS like the RX-8), Mitsubishi brings back the 3000GT, etc. All targeting the GR Supra.
Albaisa seems like a pretty straight up guy. Only hope that he makes the rumors come true. Many of which have appeared in this particular thread. Not sure if he or others at Nissan read any of this stuff but it might be a good idea that he does. Cuz I'm never wrong. Hahahahahahahaha!
Have seen the pics from spyder7 before. I know nissan has been working with Z1 quite a bit over the last few years so will not be suprised to see the twin turbo 3L in this coming version. Fingers crossed they don't mess this one up like i feel toyota did with the supra. Am sure the supra is nice but being 90% bmw doesn't tickle my jspec fancy.

Rusty, you mentioned Z1 couple of times but only saw the article about design chief Albaisa on the link. Is that correct? I went to Z1 on FB and saw nothing having anything to do with a twin application.... am I missing something?
The link i shared today was from their fb. In reference to the twin turbo and i don't remember where i read it. Z1 was talking about the plans for it about 6 months ago. Believe it was just after finishing their time attack car that they brought to sema. I can't find it either. At one point they had a video up of them taking nissan execs for some fun in the parking lot but the video was only up for about 2 hours. Think nissan legal didn't like it being posted.
Z1 posted something on IG during April Fool's Day about the new Z. It was from Nissan saying it was unexpected and hash tagged Nissan which lead me to believe it to be true. I asked if they knew something we didn't and they just replied back with the face with no expression. Someone at Z1 knows something we don't. Either way if Z1 was in there or saw the render or concept of the new Z with the inspiration from the 240 and 300 like all these articles are saying we should be in good hands.

I WANT TO BELIEVE!
It would not surprise if Z1 was under NDA for their previews of the actual "new Z". They develop products for the platform and likely are in the know so they can have products ready at release time. Just like any of the "tuners" of various platforms. We do this all the time in the software biz..... gotta have independent developers building stuff for our platform or fail.
