As far as transmissions go it seems like Nissan will still be offering a conventional auto, no dual clutch which really is a low end option these days. Real auto sports cars have a dual clutch which just happens to be the fastest option for a track car.

Low end option? Hmmm....Interesting thought. The Germans have definitely embraced the technology in a bigger way than thevrest of the world’s mfgrs but only in higher end cars that I’m aware of..... AMG, MSport, Audi S, VWR.

DCT tech is still pretty expensive and between $$$ and people thinking it is hard shifting, mfgrs are looking at modern (but conventional) AT tech.

But, we might be able to look forward to some trickle down tech from the ‘20 R35 with DCT trans!

Always marvel at the Australian Supercars series and the in car views showing the drivers rowing up and down through their sequential DCT trannies. Awesome!

Talking about mechanical sequentials I was watching a track video of one where a couple of corners were slow and the driver was obviously overwhelmed. Shifting down 5-6 gears one by one plus braking, that would be well beyond me too.

OK, Nissan gets points with me today. Much as I could certainly own one with a DCT, I'd prefer manual just because its more fun!

And so....

Nissan offers chicken dinner! (Y'know, as in "winner winner...") Yes, NOW I'm getting excited. Seriously, heading over to put money down on Nismo Z35! Yeah, I wanna be the first in my 'hood. Heh heh!

Ha! I knew it! These "other" automakers can keep their engineer driven new fangled fancy auto trans, if I wanted someone else to drive my car I'll buy one of those old Lincolns and hire an Alfred. Nissan proving again they understand what it means to "Drive".

Let's hope Nissan reengineered the CSC for the Z35. Even going back to an external slave would be better than sticking with the composite CSC in the 370Z.

Doubtful- with so few manual trannys being sold nowadays, how could Nissan justify the R&D and production changes for a new manual gearbox? Just be happy that a manual is a possibility for the Z35. They're becoming a rare sight these days.

Hahaha, I don't even remember this commercial and I was (still am) a BIG fan of the 300ZX Twin. They should do the exact same thing again if the Z35 ends up with turbos. Twin...Turbos...Kick....In...

Believe me I don't want to see it happen, I love the 90s era of cars that were simple and fun.

It is a prototype given the name, if those make it to the production model it will probably only be for the Nismo or be an expensive option.

Wish I could be more hyped since we're finally getting a new Z, but I just can't find it very aesthetically pleasing. Interested to see the body kits that will start to come out. On the other hand, i'm glad to be seeing stock turbos come back to the Z platform.

(I just joined the forum and this is my first post, i've already seen such a massive collection of information on here and i'm glad to start posting around and talking to some of you guys!)
