quick question about the successful bypass in our cars.

So we pull up on the tab on the RCA harness to pull out the yellow/black mute wire. then reinsert the mute wire into the top space above it (still yellow on top and black on bottom I assume).

Then reinsert the RCA harness back into the headunit. Then what are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to ground the other end of that yellow/black mute wire to some steel part? What about the parking brake wire?

i want to try and do the bypass myself, but I have zero electrical experience and any help in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated!

the info on avic411.com seems pretty self-explanatory. Just a couple of questions about that mute wire and parking brake wire grounding thing.

Did the install and the unit is powered up and working, but my amp is not powering on which powers my sub and when I put the car in reverse the rear view camera doesn't come up.

Any Help??

Well, you need to start your troubleshooting by ensuring:

1) The remote amp turn-on lead connection is connected. lol (And solid)

2) The reverse-sensing lead is hooked up so the AVIC-D3 knows you've shifted to reverse. (Assuming your camera is hooked up correctly?)

Let us know.

Also I want to keep my wheel controls so how do i do that and what will i need?

O.. and one last thing can i play my I-pod and load Nav information at the same time or does everything come to a hault to use the Nav?

you can buy your stuff from a number of places... sonicelectronix.com, amazon.com, ebay, circuity city, best buy, etc...

i purchased my d3 off amazon for $615 shipped, bought the ipod adapter for ~$35 shipped, picked up the wiring harness from circuit city, and bought the dash kit off crutchfield.com

the total came out to be around $700 for everything.

to keep your steering wheel controls i believe you need to buy an adapter from pac-audio.com.

as for your ipod, you can do everything with the navi while the ipod is playing in the background. you also have the option of muting the background when the navi voice plays or just simply having the voice speak over the music.

hope that helps!

thats EXACTLY what i do. you never have to worry about scratching/skipping cds again and you can have all your mp3s to choose from. AND you don't have to play with your ipod while driving, just use the d3's ipod interface. i dont think i could ever go back to cd's!

I will double check tonight but Im pretty sure I have the amp turn on connected correctly and for the reverse camera I went off the DIY in the Audio section to locate the reverse wire. It is green and white correct??

Thanks

Any ideas??

Thanks

Man I had my d3 installed by a "professional" yesterday. It looks perfect but the sound just isn't loud. I think I will actually have to get the damn OHm leveler talked about earlier.

Not to "preach" but I try to tell you guys. So, is it easier to do it over or to have just done it right? Hey, on the bright side, live and learn.

Good Luck.

Ask questions.

Oh, and if someone answers, use the info.

I recently had an Avic-D3 installed but for some reason the radio only seems to work right in the middle of the city but when I get away from the area, the signal fades and I pick up 0 stations. My stock headunit had no trouble with any stations anywhere. (Any ideas?) Also, I was able to pair my cell up with the D3, but when I make calls neither I nor the caller can hear each other.....any ideas on this?

Yeah, you don't have your stock antenna module getting any power with your new wiring. Guaranteed. In the new harness, even though we don't have a power antenna, you still need to ensure you connect the "power antenna" lead to switched +12v. Otherwise, or antenna amp doesn't get juices and we don't get (many) signals. lol

Wait, where should the power antenna lead be connected to?

On the D3 side of the harness there should be a blue lead labeled: "Antenna Control". On the Nissan-adapter side of the harness there should be a solid blue power antenna lead.

Strip. Twist. Solder them together. Shrink wrap the connection when you're done.

Disconnect the battery and plug back in. Once its disconnected wait like 5 min before reconnecting. That took my engine light off. As for the gas gauge make sure everything is plugged in. I accidently unplugged my three little oil, batter, and info center thing and that fixed it.
