My $100 like OEM fit NAVIGATION setup
Had my first drive with the OCN8, it has a lot of features packed in it! It handled reroutes really well too. I was impressed with the lane indicators and all of the information they display. it's definetly not a simple nav app, but once I learn it a bit more, i think its going to be great.
Now on to installing it in the car...

Nice Burner! I tried creating a nissan loading screen, 480x234 as a bmp, but it caused an error... also when I try to look at the default loading image i get an error in windows xp...
did you do anything special to create the .bmp loading image?

No, the Pioneer doesn't have nav. I've found that most units with built in nav are slow as hell (booting up, finding position, touchscreen response) which is why I went with a double din w/o nav and the cubby nav.
You have to edit the "branding.zip" file....you don't have to touch the "data.zip" file. Open up "branding.zip" (without uncompressing), copy your loading.bmp image (overwrite the old one) and close out. When you copy the file (Windows Vista or newer, I was using Windows 7) it will recompress it automatically. Copy that to the SD card and it should work. Make sure you only change the loading.bmp file in the 480_234 folder.

So, does anybody want to do a detailed write up on how to wire and install everything? I'm not very good with wiring at all and I prefer to do everything in one try without a hitch.
Awesome, I'll be looking forward to that. If you don't mind, I'd like to see where everything was placed and how things were wired, with the support of your reasoning behind it all, if you don't mind.
I am going to finish it on Saturday, I will also get pics up. Mine is an 03, so my power adapter is in the back. So what I did is put a switch in next to the heated seat button and ran the power from the back outlet to the switch and just grounded the power adapter up front. Pretty easy install. So with the switch, I have the ability to turn the nav. unit off when not in use.
Got the 06 non-nav cubby modified, and the unit mounted tonight. Tomorrow I will install it in the car... I am happy with the way it turned out. I was able to get the screen very close to the front, and the lid opens up and clears the screen fine. I like the fact that with the lid closed the whole interior looks stock. also the lid will help shade the screen in the sun.
I decided that for the time being, I will not be messing with the SD card, and will just pull it out if i ever want to update the maps or data. I used some 3m trim tape to secure the screen to the cubby, and some zip ties as well because I didn't want it coming off in the heat of the summer. I'ts wired up for the aux video in, and I will be using my PA11-NIS adapter for sound through the factory radio if I want to play videos from my ipod, etc.

Anybody have this on the 04-05 cubby hole where the cubby stays flipped open? Also is everybody hooking it up to there speakers, how's the audio output on the actual device itself? Just made an offer on ebay.
One thing to mention, the plenio does take 12v, but there is a voltage regulator in the cig plug that you should still use. This is because the cars electrical is not a constant 12 volts, while running it can be up to 14+. I noticed some are cutting out the cig plug and hard wiring, but this removes the regulator and may shorten the life of the nav unit... its a good idea to use an adapter and keep the cig plug and regulator.
06BlueZ - How does your PA11-NIS adapter setup exactly work?
So you have your ipod connect for songs and you plugs in the Plenio's audio out to the PA11-NIS adapter as well. And now the PA11-NIS adapter connects to the fty radio.
So how do you switch the source to PA11-NIS adapter so you get music from the factory speakers? Do you press something on the radio?
Does PA11-NIS adapter mute the music when it picks up signal from the rca audio?
Will the PA11-NIS adapter work with aftermarket radios?
