The Tire DB - Posts about Track and AutoX tire brands
I would go with the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. I had them on my STI and they heat up quickly, and don't get greasy after numerous runs. They also don't have much road noise besides a slight "hum" on the highway, and are very predictable in the rain.
I autocross a lot and have ran many different tires.
Of those I have ran here is my list from best to worst.
Kumho XS
BFG KD (Not the KDW's. I don't think they make these any more.)
Falken RT-615's
Kumho MX's
Other great tires I have not ran..
Yokohama ADVAN Neova
Bridgestone RE-11
Bridgestone RE-01
Hankook ventus RS-2
There may be more that I am forgetting...

I knew I was forgetting something...
The Star Specs. I ran those on the front when I couldn't get the XS's in the sizes I run up front.
They are great too. I would put them 2nd or third on my list.

Here's a huge 1000x1000 photo: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/BigPic...=Potenza+RE-11
Looking at your signature it seems you don't have any suspension mods, so R-comps or slicks would be a bad idea.
I would stick with Falken RT615's - dirt cheap and sticky enough for autocross. Although when worn they can be pretty scary in the rain (and lose stickiness in the dry as well)

Although most of my opinion is based off of the ITR crowd...
Okay.. heres the catch..
I live in guam usa.. for you that does not know where it is..
Guam is located near Marianas Trench..
The sport here as well is autocross..
Weather wise: hot.. no snow.. rains...
Looking for tires that are: for autocross and DD even on wet roads..
Any suggestions?
thanks..

But I recommend just using your stock Potenzas first for next weeks autox, try to learn how to handle the car in stock form first before you do some modifications. Then when you do need new tires, theres a lot of nice ones that tirerack can ship over to Guam. Did you get your helmet already?

My latest setup is 275/40/17 Hoosier R6's on 17x10 +15 Enkei RPF1's.
If anyone is running NASA road racing or time trials and are competitive you're crazy to run anything other than Hoosiers considering the contingency. I won two races in PTA last Sat and should have 4 free tires on their way to me. Thank you Hoosier!

there are a million tires out there man, youre just looking for a sporty street tire. Iunno if i'd trust Rotas on track, going over bumpstrips and what not at speed btw. might wana look elsewhere.
unless youre not comfortable pushing the car at high speed or if youre completely new to high-performance/race driving i'd just keep oems, get some 400 treadwear tires..and invest in a set of wheels/r-comps for track sessions. rig up a trailer to tow em with.

This kind of mentality is getting old.

LAKEVILLE, IN (March 17, 2009) -- Hoosier Racing Tire is pleased to announce that it will again offer a generous contingency program to NASA members in 2009.
"The decision to launch a Hoosier Racing Tire contingency program for NASA in 2008 instantly paid big dividends by generating tons of support from NASA competitors. Hoosier shod drivers dominated in the open tire classes at the 2008 NASA Nationals resulting in 16 out of 18 possible championships," said Bruce Foss, Hoosier Racing Tire Road Racing Product Manager.
Foss added, "The continuation and expansion of the NASA contingency program for 2009 is a logical progression. We look forward to the exciting and successful benefits for Hoosier Racing Tire and competitors using the Hoosier brand."
To assure that NASA competitors understand Hoosier's value of their support, Hoosier Racing Tire has expanded the contingency program this year to include the Time Trial competitors, as well as, all the classes that were included last year. The purpose of this program is to reward the success of those drivers and ensure Hoosier Racing Tire remains the tire of choice for NASA racers in 2009.
"It's fantastic that Hoosier Racing Tire has expanded their contingency program available to NASA competitors," said Jeremy Croiset, NASA's Sponsorship Manager. "We work very hard to deliver the best support programs for our drivers and we are confident that our racers will be very excited about this new offering."
All open tire classes (including Time Trial classes) will be eligible for this program. The program will award each 1st place finisher with two (2) free tires if there are three or more starters in the class and 2nd place will be awarded with one (1) free tire if there are five or more starters in the class. The program includes all NASA regions.
More details and information on the Hoosier Racing Tire contingency program can be found by clicking here. https://www.hoosiertire.com/NASAawdg.htm

On behalf of the entire NASA TT Program, I would like to thank Bruce and Hoosier for including us in the program this year.

and man... it's your wallet but they are "quite" expensive. go more, go with the toyo... if you want to spend more get some hoosiers.
what do you guys think?
i was thinking -2 degrees camber front and rear?
I would always go with a shorter tire than a taller tire. The advantages are that your car is lower, your gearing is lower (and your acceleration will be better), your car will brake better, and you have a shorter sidewall for better steering response. The disadvantages are that your odometer will be slightly off and ride will be a bit harsher.
