I would go with the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. I had them on my STI and they heat up quickly, and don't get greasy after numerous runs. They also don't have much road noise besides a slight "hum" on the highway, and are very predictable in the rain.

I autocross a lot and have ran many different tires.

Of those I have ran here is my list from best to worst.

Kumho XS
BFG KD (Not the KDW's. I don't think they make these any more.)
Falken RT-615's
Kumho MX's

Other great tires I have not ran..

Yokohama ADVAN Neova
Bridgestone RE-11
Bridgestone RE-01
Hankook ventus RS-2

There may be more that I am forgetting...

After watching ST and STS run this weekend at the Dixie National Tour, the hot shoes were stupid fast on Bridgestone RE-11s. They come in stock 350Z sizes.

I really liked the bfg kdw's,but they almost stuck too well(having trouble getting it to slide)
I would say go with the nitto invo's.

I knew I was forgetting something...

The Star Specs. I ran those on the front when I couldn't get the XS's in the sizes I run up front.

They are great too. I would put them 2nd or third on my list.

I still have to learn "the track" better before switching to R-comp.

You should have asked me haha... Thats great that you tried it out for the first time last Sunday. I have Dunlop Z1 Star Specs coming in from tirerack.

But I recommend just using your stock Potenzas first for next weeks autox, try to learn how to handle the car in stock form first before you do some modifications. Then when you do need new tires, theres a lot of nice ones that tirerack can ship over to Guam. Did you get your helmet already?

My latest setup is 275/40/17 Hoosier R6's on 17x10 +15 Enkei RPF1's.
If anyone is running NASA road racing or time trials and are competitive you're crazy to run anything other than Hoosiers considering the contingency. I won two races in PTA last Sat and should have 4 free tires on their way to me. Thank you Hoosier!

besides that... why do you want to buy knock off when you can get enkei or 5zigen for the same prices of rotas?
want to spend a little more and get lighter wheels? weds sport...

To assure that NASA competitors understand Hoosier's value of their support, Hoosier Racing Tire has expanded the contingency program this year to include the Time Trial competitors, as well as, all the classes that were included last year. The purpose of this program is to reward the success of those drivers and ensure Hoosier Racing Tire remains the tire of choice for NASA racers in 2009.

All open tire classes (including Time Trial classes) will be eligible for this program. i am trying to decide between the perelli p-zero corsa and toyo r888. any of you track guys have a preference between the two?

pzero corsa are "quite famous" between porsche guys to explode if used with an aggressive camber.
and man... it's your wallet but they are "quite" expensive. go more, go with the toyo... if you want to spend more get some hoosiers.

Wish I'd seen that trick. I just got some 17's for stock wheels and paid $100 shipping from Arizona (still, $78 a tire is sick).

i went ahead and bought the r888 toyo's. i have 19in wheels so i was limited on sizing.... i went with a 265/30/19 in the front and 295/30/19 in the rear. they are about an inch shorter of a tire than i have now, so i will have less sidewall....i'm hoping that wont hurt me in anyway on the track what do you guys think? i was thinking -2 degrees camber front and rear?

I would always go with a shorter tire than a taller tire. The advantages are that your car is lower, your gearing is lower (and your acceleration will be better), your car will brake better, and you have a shorter sidewall for better steering response. The disadvantages are that your odometer will be slightly off and ride will be a bit harsher.
