Sound Deadening Removal/Weight Reduction/Cage Prep
Is there anything special you had to do to remove what I think is the heater core in behind the center console?
I couldnt really get at it and I'm not very skilled at this type of thing so I just started smacking it out with a hammer.
I'm down to the little radiator looking things. Can I just cut the lines and take them out? Are there any precautions to be taken? Just cut those lines that come through the firewall and cap them off?

The only way to get the heater core out is to loosing the main crash bar that the steering wheel is attached to.
The other lines i completely removed them from inside the car and engine bay.

As for the coolant lines, I cut them and basically joined them back together with a splice inside the engine bay. I believe it carriers coolant from one side of the engine to the other.
Good luck! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions
There were AC lines and coolant lines. I had my AC removed at this point so they were already cut from the engine bay. And yes, the huge bar under the dash, I had to pretty much almost remove it to get the heater core out. I unbolted it from one side and loosened the other side and kind of jarred it up enough to get the heater core out.

I need to do that mod.
One of things I plan on doing this winter is making a better mount for my wing. I am going through the hatch and onto the trunk floor.

About to start this:
https://my350z.com/forum/na-builds/5...b-project.html
Also spent the last several weeks working on new wing mount. It's excessive, but very functional and extremely sturdy. I went this route so I could still open my trunk without a huge headache. Having it mounted on the truck I was losing a lot of efficiency with the hatch bending and such. That is wasted force that could be used for more down force. The mounts on the hatch are held on by a pin that can be taken out in 10 seconds. It barely clears the wing when I open the hatch. I will have my cool shirt cooler back there along with my battery at some point and I want to be able to easily access it.
Here are a few pics. This took me forever to do. It was a lot of work and fabbing. It is mounted to the crash bar with some angle aluminum, X-braced with steel cable to keep it from swaying left and right and the mounts to the hatch to keep it from moving forward and backward. This thing is VERY Sturdy and its up high enough to get some "clean" air. Also since i had the rear bumper off for awhile, I installed a new rear tow hook. Trying to get the car W2W legal. I am not too far out. I recently acquired all my personal safety gear (which adds up fast $$$) too. I think all I need is a kill switch and middle window net or whatever its called.

For those who have pulled the heater core, any issues with fogging? Thinking of doing this but not sure if its a good idea.. also is it "legal" per NASA and SCCA to remove it and the round dash bar as in post #181?
