Hawk HPS Pads making noise when rotating.
I bought a set if hawk hps pads because it seemed that everyone was recommending them as a good set of pads with low dust. I installed them on new rear rotors, and bedded them properly. The problem is that they are making a scraping noise when the wheels are rotating. When i drive by a wall or house at low speeds, i can hear them rubbing against the rotors. I have no frozen slider pins on the rear rotors and everything was installed perfect. IS this a characteristic of these pads? Has anyone had this experience. I am thinking about changing them out for Nismo pads that are orange(i think r-tune).
thanks

i reinstalled them 2 or 3 times just to make sure thay they were right. The size is correct. All i know is that the stock ones before didnt make any noise. i have the stoptech oe replacement rotors offered by centric parts that are double disc ground, which gives them a crosshatch pattern. Do you think that is what is making them noisy?
here is the rotors:

Did you index the rotors to the hubs and check that the installed rotors are not warped and meet oem specification for trueness.
Oem specs are tight and must be measured with a dial indicator.
Many times hubs are out of spec [excessive or differntial lug torque or corroded [rusted]] which gets muliplied by rotor diameter.

um...no. i just took the old ones off, cleaned up everything real good. Replaced the pads and rotors per the specs on the 350z forums, and reisntalled everything. i did not use a dial for thickness. I assumed i ordered from a reputable company when i bought them. MAny people on here have used them with no problems. The caliper sits over the rotor with perfect clearances on each side. I honestly cannot find where the defect may be coming from. even when i jack the car up and spin the wheel by hand i can hear the scraping of the pads on the rotors. Is it just the difference in material from stock that is making them noisier?

Anytime you have a runout greater than 0.0015" you will hear the the shish, shish sound as the high spot comes around and contact the pads.
Warped hubs or poorly made or damaged from stacking or in shipping rotors can be fixed with brake align runout correction plates between rotor and hub............these plates are tapered in zero to 0.003" increments.

Brake perfection often requires a lot of extra work. Check your FSM for the proper proceedure if you are not using an on the car brake lathe to correct the runout at time of installation.

When ever you change pads or compounds A FILM must be transfered from the pads to the clean rotor.............commonly called bedding in or just normal braking eventually 250-500 miles. Until this is accomplished correctly things may be noiser.................also different pads have their own different individual noise signature.
