Default ahhh another Zaino newbie...

OK so after abusing my Z by using that damned Mr. Clean AutoDry kit (see https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=86485) I finally dropped ~$175 on Zaino, DF towels/applicators and WW towels. I'm about as newbie as can be with Zaino so I've searched the forum for tips - but still have a couple of questions...

1) How do you actually remove the wax after it has dried? Do I wipe the wax off in the same direction that the wax was applied? How often should I change/fold my df towel?

2) You guys will probably laugh at this, so [flame suit]. I'm not sure I fully understand how to apply the Z-6. I know I spray a light mist onto a small area and wipe it over the surface. But on the back of the bottle it says "immediately wipe...until completely slick and dry", but also says "do not let Z-6 dry on car." So dry, but don't dry? I'm a senior engineering student so I can't be that stupid (I think... ), but I figure I'd ask just to make sure. Cuz I figure the Z-6 should be dry before applying the next layer. [/flame suit]

3) I know Zaino says not to apply more than three coats with ZFX within 24 hours, but I guess I was wondering if anybody has ever applied more than three within this time frame. Reason I ask is because I want to add another layer of Z-5 before applying the two final layers of Z-2 since it has been a couple of months since my Z's last waxing. If not, Z-5, Z-5, and Z-2 it is.

Well I guess if I can get these questions answered, I can finally join the cult known as Zaino and officially become a Zainoholic.

Oh yea, got one more question. For those of you that ordered from DFtowel.com, how long did it take for your order to be delivered? I made my order early Monday morning (~7:30am) and thought it would be here by Friday...? Ordered a medium and a large concours towel along with 2 mf applicators hoping it would be enough to detail my Z.

Anyways, thanks in advanced to anybody that can provide any help. I mean, we were all Zaino virgins at one point in our life, right?

Yep same here, I just got my first Zaino order in the mail yesterday, but I'm also still waiting for the towels. I ordered them the same time I ordered the Zaino but I have no idea where they are coming from.

As for the Z-6, I don't think it actually coats, I believe that it's just a polish enhancer. So it just helps shine up the Zaino that's already on the car.

1) You wipe off the haze (dried Zaino) with a DF or other microfiber towel. While not required, I always apply in one direction and remove in the same direction. Front to back on horizontal surfaces, up and down on vertical surfaces.

2) What they mean is - don't spray it on and let the liquid dry. Spray an area and wipe/buff it until it's dried and smooth.

3) Since it's recommended by Zaino Bros. not to apply more than 3/24hrs, I would stick to that. Do two Z-5s then a Z-2 then wait a day and do one or more Z-2 if you want.

Welcome to the cult. Remember Bonz's mantra - less is better. Apply it very sparingly.

I didn't get my DF towels from DF directly, got it through a distributor. He ships Fedex 2nd day so I can get my Zaino and towels in a flash.

Welcome to the cult!

How do you actually remove the wax after it has dried?
Just buff it off like you would any other wax/polish. I use my DF towels and buff in a circular motion or in an up an down motion. It doesn't really matter.

I'm not sure I fully understand how to apply the Z-6.
Use it just like you would use Windex on a window. Spritz it on and buff it off. You don't use much. Your towel should only be slightly damp after doing the entire car. With just the Z-6 (before any polish) it will feel VERY smooth and slick.

Reason I ask is because I want to add another layer of Z-5 before applying the two final layers of Z-2 since it has been a couple of months since my Z's last waxing.
It sounds like you are only talking three layers here (2 of the Z-5 and one of the Z-2). This is what I do but the first two I do WITH the ZFX and the last layer I use WITHOUT ZFX. I let it sit overnight in the garage and take it off the next morning.

Unless you are talking about 2 layers of Z-5 and then 2 layers of Z-2 here? I haven't ever done four at one session. Zaino recommends against it but I doubt the world would end if that's what you really want to do.

For those of you that ordered from DFtowel.com, how long did it take for your order to be delivered?
Mine came in about a week. Sometimes a certain size towel is on backorder but Leo will usually tell you this. E-mail him and ask about any delays: leo@leocerruti.com

yea... I meant two coats of Z-5 and then two coats of Z-2. If nobody here has done it, then I'll just be patient and do Z-5, Z-5, and then Z-2 with Z-6 inbetween each layer. I guess I was just looking forward to shining like some of you Zaino ****** . It's all good tho, give me a couple of weeks and I'll be a Zaino ***** as well.

Thanks for the help guys... first couple of rounds are on me! I'll post some pics when I'm finished.
