Question 3.9 Gears - anyone have them?

I was wondering what the impact on freeway crusing was. How much increase in RPM is there at around 80mph?

Also, what does the butt dyno say about acceleration. Is it as dramatic as the vendor claims?

zslinger has one, along with some other mods. i heard good things. definetly will hurt your MPG though because of the higher cruising rpms.

There are many threads already on the 3.9; its great! Use quick search. Unless they removed all the threads and posts.

The 3.9 does everything BJ at evo says. I wouldnt trade it for anything except a 4.0

80mph in 6th gear = about 3300rpms

driving on the highway is much more fun with the 3.91 gears.

My mpg has gone down, but not considerably - just means you shift more

instead of cruising the streets in 4th gear, now you use 5th - if you're trying to drive conservatively.

I didn't buy the Z to get good fuel economy....

buy a civic for that

if you ever got the nismo crankshaft and upgraded the engine, this gearing would be perfect for being able to rev to 8500 with boost or nitrous

You can definitely notice the rpms difference in hwy crusing. Nothing too severe however.

I picked up 2 mph on the trap speed. The 3.9 is a solid improvement over stock and one that you will feel in the seat of the pants. What I like best about this mod is that the car still feels, looks and sound factory, its just faster. I think, with the exception of the Tilton flywheel, the 3.9 is THE best bang for the buck.

I have them but this guy ^^^^^^ is telling me to wait until spring to install them. He hasn't steered me wrong yet, so I listen.
