If this oil change, number 4, increases even more, Nissan is going to need to step up to the plate!

^^ It is rather annoying to have to go through all of what you guys are going through. Specialy right after we purchase the car new. I purchase have an 06 Rev-up not knowing of this issues with them.
I have been, somewhat fortunate if you want to call it that, that my burn a quart every 3000 miles. I have heard of so much worse.
Never the less, it is still an issue that I have to keep my eyes on.

Feel the same in regards to not knowing about this before I bought my 06 revup new. Yes annoying...2.5 years just to get my first replacement
Can't even imagine if it were more than one replacement so far.
I was told by the master mechanic that these type of VQ's, even my current replacement, will use some oil and to expect that, but not excessive hence the TSB.
Have a feeling this will be my normal maintenance regiment even with a sucessful V2 to keep an eye on the oil level through out it's life. I've never had to worry about OC until ~80-100+K on engines depending on manufacture lol. One didn't start having OC issues until 180K and that was only at 1qt/5000mi, another at 85K 1qt/2500mi. but that was a VW 2.0 lol.
My long ago opinion on these rev-ups have been they pushed this series VQ too far, but it's what I own and shall be what it is. I love my ride, just not real impressed with the issues of the VQ35DE series has had or still is. Oh well.

I couldn't agree with you more! I think this is one reason the HR has over 80% new parts, Nissan knew they pushed the DE too far!

i had been burning roughly 1qt to 1.5 qts every 1500 mi. i jus too my car in to nissan today. the guy told me that burning a qt of oil per 1k miles is normal on the z motor. this sounded kind of weird to me because if i change my oil every 3k miles then id only have 2 qts left before the oil change. they gave me an oil change and told me to come back in a 1k mi. i checked the dipstick after the oil change and after the engine cooled down and they filled it up a bit higher then the h. what should i do?

Just a bit over shouldn't be an issue with your consumption rate.
Look at the TSB chart for Nissan's acceptable/unacceptable consumption on these.

^Sorry...had to have some fun with the wording with my 2.5 yrs of battle to get a V2.
Those two things happened to me, which delayed me qualifing using two different dealers once TSB was released.
For all I know THEIR TSB's said that
ha.
Don't let your Z/G out of your sight when it comes to OC testing hands down.

they wont let me in the shop to keep an eye on it. when i bring it back 1k miles later, im going to bring a video camera and record when i pull into the service isle. then im gonna pull the dipstick out myself ON CAMERA and show the guy who comes to take my service order ON CAMERA that my oil level is low. that way if its necessary, i have video proof and i will take actions accordingly.

Last time I went back for OC follow-up, they didn't even take into shop that time. They left it outside to sit for the 20-30 min. Maybe that will be the way they do it with you too first time.
Anyway, G/L with everything.
Okay...I have a question for the members who have already had their V2(s) replaced.
Can anyone confirm if new spark plugs came installed in their V2 prior to swap?
Anyone happen to look under one of the six taped holes on the valve covers to see if there was a plug in there? I forgot to look on mine.
I can confirm that there was a new PCV valve. I saw that.
Thanks.

To my knowledge they use the old spark plugs. I believe I remember reading that somewhere.
Also, if you are having a problem with the dealership not letting you see the oil level when they fill it, overfilling the oil, or telling you that a quart every 1k miles is "normal" for engine burnoff, go to another dealer.
If for some reason you NEED to stay at that dealer, bring them the TSB, and have them let you verify the oil level before they seal it off, even if they have to take it off the lift, bring it outside, let it cool/drain back into the pan for half an hour, then take it back into the service bay to seal it. When it comes down to that they may just let you see it when you are in there.
You can also try calling NNA to get the ball rolling at your dealer. There is no reason they should fight against you on this. They make money and the TSB is there. You've done your homework- don't let them walk all over you just because they are used to doing it with other customers.

So I told them I want new plugs installed and I'll pay for them, including others things concerning my V1 to my V2.
This is why I asked if anyone looked under tape on V2 valve covers...
When my V2 was completed, dealer said we didn't need to new install plugs. They were already installed on V2.
My final W.O. also stated plugs came with V2, but that was to off-set my request to replace them.
So now I'm curious if the V2 really did come with new plugs or not. Hmmm.
Next person in line to get their V2 needs to look under tape to confirm this please, thanks
