Received my analysis report. My V2 is failing. Numbers prove it and just a matter of time now. Explains the blue/white smoke I had the other day on cold start-up. Short block proves a worthy build and is strong. Valve train is garbage with a weak and failing build.

My V2 saga continues.....

Hi All
I do have a Nissan Z350 06 enthusiast, bought on Nov '05.
Seems it is starting having oil consumption problems, my car has 80K miles. I had the extended warranty till 75K. Is Nissan going to cover this problem regardless of the warranty?

Hey i have an 06 that had oil consumption issue and they replaced the engine under warranty and that went fine but now about 2 yrs later i have noticed it is burning oil again the car does not have any type of f/i just regular bolt on i/e/spacer/tp etc... Question is will the dealer replace the engine again if it still under warranty?

first was replaced at 20k miles this one started to consume excess oil after 15k miles

Hey thanks. Mine hinted going South at 11K and now confirmed at 16K with a different internal failing issue (my replacement little over 1.5yrs old).

Wonder if Nissan finally increased their quality on current replacement builds used now. Hopefully the third VQ will be the charm for both of us. Two defective VQ's given to me has me extremely annoyed now.

Don't forget to file another 'defect' complaint to the NHTSA.

Yea, as of earlier today, the thread got locked because its too similar to my thread in the new members section.

Ill sum it up though: Took the Z in to the dealer to get a spare key cut and programmed and to have the tire pressure monitoring system reprogrammed and the service tech looked up to history of my car. Turns out the engine had been replaced at 12k miles (im sure for consuming oil)!!! Had no idea! Now im just hoping this replacement engine doesnt burn oil too like it seems many people have run into...

I have an 06 enthusiast and I normally on a regular basis have to had almost a quart a little after 2200 miles between oil changes. Im using full synthetic too. I think my car is having this oil consumption problem does the car have to be under warranty for them to think about replacing it?

Well are any of you going to try and fix the problem when it occurs or are you just going to keep sending it back to the dealership so they can give you a new one? I was just giving my car a pressure test and i found out what my oil consumption problem was and i found out other reasons why too. I have an 03 and my #5 cylinder has a worn seal around the coilpack hole (with the sparkplug) at the valve cover. Between the valve cover and the head theres a ring that you cant replace so you have to buy a new valve cover. Also my car seems to have residue and buildup between my valve cover and head (where the valve cover gasket is) on my left hand side cover. I also read about how you can clean the valve covers where oil and debri got caught in a specific part of the valve cover that causes something crazy to happen with the oil and have the oil run through the pcv hoses and into the intake manifold to the combusion chamber to be ignited. Thats all just some food for thought and im getting this done before i get my SC on. SC at over 90,000 miles and with my compression test i pulled 175-170psi on all cylinders.....sry to get off topic. tryin to help.

As long as I'm under power train warranty...yes. When I'm not and if still have issues (plus if I still own it), then I'll have my VQ built strong and correctly myself with my own $$.

Long known issue and heard #6 found sometimes. There's threads on this found other Z/G forums to check that condition 'before' warranty expires, otherwise expensive out-of-pocket repair unless you DIY. That issue isn't really related to the internal OC issue on these VQ's, but definitely good info to share.

PCV system is a known system design flaw too and been briefly mentioned here and there over the years on OC threads. Nissan/Infiniti hasn't addressed it and probably never will on these DE series VQ's. Yes where PCV should only suck vapor under valve cover, it starts sucking dense oil vapor or maybe even the oil itself due to it's reservoir holes plugging up and not draining. I've posted pix of my PCV valve discovery on another forum under different SN. I run an oil catch can, though doesn't stop OC, but it does stop oil being burnt in cc's from that source of bad design. My logic is I rather collect and drain it than burn it.

I don't remember the page of this thread that had the VIN numbers for the Replacement VQ's that would tell what revision motor we got. Can someone please post those VIN's please also where do we find this number on the motor. I was looking around last night and found some numbers that looked to be stamped on towards the top of the motor.
