TSB states 2005 Track and 35th Anniv 6mt's. And 2006 with 6mt's. Those have the rev-up VQ's.

just read this whole thread and went out and checked the oil. its been approx 2500 miles since last change maybe a little under that and i measured today and im at 13-14mm low. ive only had the car since 18200k miles and now im at 20534k miles. and drove it from florida to Canada, and id say most of the time i bring it out i drive it pretty hard. so dont know if this is normal checked that pdf of the ts bulletin and its to hard to tell. so gonna check next oil change do you guys recommend when i book my next oil change i present the tsb to the dealer and tell them to do a oil consumption check? will i have any problems if there is a consumption problem or because i have this tsb printed out they will just give me a new motor if my issue is serious? also i know the oil pressure gauge doesnt mean oil level, but my oil pressure at idle is a bit under 30psi is that ok? and i notice when i drive it does go over half and then come back down at idle. but i was concerned with the little under 30psi my old car ran at 30 right on.

Wow if your at 13mm at 2500mi, you're in the 'good' range. But if it's 14mm at 2500mi you just made it in the 'no good' range.
Your VQ is on the fence post.

I would at your next oil service, mention your consumption and you're aware of the OC TSB.
Make sure they don't overfill you at service and ask when they want you to come back to check level. During that time, drive the crap out of your Z and do a lot of engine braking Long trips work too. See if they'll let you run on Synth during test monitoring, mine allowed Synth.

Can't help you on the oil pressure question.

G/L and hope you qualify being you're so close in not. Run Synth and it may improve your chances just enough.

Update on mine... 38K miles, extended warranty... I started driving a little harder going to work and my OC increased... from 1qt every 5K miles to 1/2qt in 1K miles... just refilled yesterday, but I'll check again.

btw, a friend of mine has a cayman S... 1qt -> 1500 miles.. and porsche consider normal 1qt every 320miles in europe.

The dealership called me today. The engine is in and I'm taking the Z in on Monday morning.

I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Per the service manual, the oil pressure should be 14psi at idle and 43 psi at 2000 rpm.

My hats off to you for reading the entire thread. I probably would have jumped off the roof if I had to go from the very beginning of the thread, but it would certainly bring back the memories.

I really like my baby.. I don't want to dump her for a stupid engineering problem on an engine.

It did not solve the problem for me. Some have had success and others like myself have not. It seems like the odds are about 50-50 and even then it appears that you have to run with special oil to get it not to consume. That's no fix in my opinion.

The problem I have had is just to get Nissan to call me back now. Took them a week and 4 subsequent calls to get them to call me back. Of course, I missed the call and now can not get in touch with them again.

We are talking about car... A partial fix would be if they have a 99.9% success...over 100.000 Z is still 100 with OC problem... anything less is BS!

just got my engine replaced this week. I was only able to put on 50miles before I parked her. Hopefully I can stretch her legs next week. I will keep the thread posted as to the success or failure of my v2.

Well I just checked it about 5 minutes ago, for the first time since the first (not including draining original oil at 200 miles) oil change at 3750 miles. I have about 3300 miles on that oil change. I am down right at a 1/2 quart. Not sure how this reads with the TSB that finally came out, but compared to the original motor this is a winner for me, as long as I get no increase in consumption over time. This engine is very strong with great oil pressure and very smooth. I hope this lasts for thousands of miles "smiles"

I'm looking at the TSB now...12mm down at 3300 = third column over in the 'OK' range.
Looks like a winner in Nissan's eyes. Hope your V2 holds or improves more as the miles click away.

I would be able to live that amount of consumption. My v1 would have gone through 4 litres OR MORE, in 3500 km.

Default What to expect

Im about to take my Z in after the 1k oil consumption test. Im curious if anyone did not get an extended warranty on their 1st engine replacement or if they had to really push and argue for it. Thanks guys

you guys shouldn't be going 3300 if your trying to see if your motor is consumer. I have found that my car will consume about .75 qts in about 700-1000 miles. But then I can check it again at 2000 and it hasn't consumed anymore. Then I have the oil changed and all a sudden its consuming again.

I also had trouble getting phone calls back from my NNA rep. He told me to put 2000 miles on my V2 before he would consider it a failure. I did the 2000 miles and called him back leaving voicemails on what he planned to do as this is motor #3. He wouldn't return my calls so I left the final voicemail letting him know that he had 24 hrs before I lawyer-up. No phone call back and now I have a demand letter from my lawyer on the way.

Default Need Oil Consumption TSB link...

Great thread. What is the TSB number or link for excessive oil consumption in 2006 350z's. I'm using about a quart per 1000 miles and am ready to do something about it.

TIA - JT

I am having the same issue with NNA. Took them a week to get back to me and I missed their call. Called them back numerous times and no call back yet.

Not much they can do with me. This is their final repair attempt and they have admitted it failed based on the TSB. They even shipped a replacement engine.

I certainly do not have a lot of interest in ever purchasing another Nissan after this experience. Simply terrible.
