Good for you, lucky you for going through BBB as it appears NO ONE here has received the 100k unless they went through BBB. I did not go through BBB, but negotiating with NNA on the 100k ext war.

Nissan has authorized me to get a new motor for oil consumption/low compression. I went in this morning to drop off the car and asked the part number for the new motor and this is what they told me
10102-AC7MA
From what I can tell, it is believed this is NOT the V2 of the rev-up. I mentioned to the service rep that this doesn't appear to be the revised hand-built motor. He said he can only do what Nissan says.
If this is the original problematic V1 rev-up motor, I think it won't fix anything. I thought Nissan had gotten past replacing the V1 motor with another V1 motor.
If anybody has more info on this part number besides the two references on page 61 and 77, please let me know.
Do I really have the V1 motor? That seems pretty illogical. Also, is it possible that this is a "refurbished" V1 motor. That would be even worse!

you might have a refurbished motor, thats all we know so far is the references you found. although last week i took my car in because the part owner of the nissan i go to requested i come in so they can document the engine number they replaced in my z. dead brained i forgot to ask what it was after the service, so ill have to give them a call and see what the engine number was, and also ask for any original 06 engine number is as they cant find out what mine was since its been disposed of or whatever. so maybe what we know right now isnt much because i found it odd that they refered to the engine number as its own thing versus a part number in which i know they have since my invoice from then had the number as did everyone elses on this thread with a replaced "v2" motor.

IMO until someone rips apart a "v2" it is just a bunch of hype to shut us up.

WCN also said that the part number ending in Z has now succeeded the one ending in A. Basically when they enter the part number ending in A it automatically pulls up the one ending in Z

true about the ripping apart to prove...but wouldnt that void the warranty? if so whos gonna make that sacrifice?
also even if its from a different vendor, did he mention if the "v2" motors are really new new, and not just refurbed? cuz so far we only know it as being a new new motor also "hand built"

ah i see. idk what to believe except i know i want this thing to go away. unlike the others who got a replaced motor i didnt get an extended warranty cuz i didnt go through bbb. ill just hope for the best, i mean in all honesty i dont want to get rid of the z nor do i want a new one or a used one, i want my current z and i want it to be healed =(
so in light of that ill just wait it out and see if it starts consuming again.
thanks for the info.

Also got full svc records at that point too, as I bought it from a VW dealer for a very good price. Well, looks like oil consumption (documented 1st at 8,000 miles) had plagued this car. It was a lease and I believe the prev. owner did not nor did it seem the dealer wanted to or just flat out did not address correctly (customer came in a few times complaining of lifter noise, they topped oil off every time, also timing solenoid was replaced under prev owner 1X). He had all the servicings and oil changes done at Infiniti with full records (gold service level).
Light came on 1 week later from 1st time when bought car. Took to another dealer and they said the 1st dealer didn't reset my ECU. Also, since I read all this about oil consumption in that week, I asked them to check it. They noted it was alittle low and topped it off. I, NOT THEM, requested an oil consumption. This was like 300 miles after the 1st dealer fixed the solenoid. I am not sure if it was at full oil when i purchased.
Well, I was planning on taking it in to get the oil level checked very soon because I set my trip odometer and just clicked 1,200 mi from that top-off, and my SES light comes on again today! Man, no SES light in a month - thought I was in the clear, as sad as that sounds, and was relieved. Took it right to dealer today. Same code. Timing valve solenoid. They replaced it, and I told them to chk oil level, because I mentioned I had read that problem was related to oil level. When I asked what was going on to see what they said, he said my car had used 1 qt. That's 1qt/1,000 mi by my count! He said that they needed to START the consumption test now for 4 rounds (I thought it was 3). Why didn't the svc history with the oil top off logged in the records count at #1? They didn't actually write - oil consumption test in the prev svc history to today. They have the 2 mileages and the record oil was topped off it says that right there in black and white- what more do they need?!!? I should really only have 2k miles to go at this point before it's over. BS.
He mentioned, candidly, that the consumption problem, if it persists, will be fixed with a new motor. At least seems like this dealer is willing to work with me to fix it with a new motor, but it sounds like NNA is going to slap the dealer around.
Also, if worst comes to worst, are there more and more V2's coming to the states now? How do I ensure I get one if I do indeed need a new motor?
This sucks. I wish I had either never got the car, and since i just got it, am restless about wondering whether i should just sell it and cut my losses.
I would be happy with the new engine if it's a fix. love the car otherwise.
VERY helpful post.

FYI there are only 2 plants in japan that make the vq35DE for the 350z. This hasnt changed but the defect in the engine has already been resloved from there stand point . And also notice this was only a certin batch of cars. Every VQ35DER does not have oil consumption. This was already proven.

I spoke to the dealership that bought the car at and they started asking me all of the usual questions. then he asked me what oil i was using. I told him Moblie 1 and he said in that case i can test your car cause moblie 1 burns oil like crazy. he siad for me to switch to regular oil and hung up. WTF??
is what he siad is true?

There is nowhere in the manual that states you can't use synthetic oil.
I would report this to NNA and go to another dealership who doesn't treat their customers with that much disrespect. They should start an oil consumption test regardless of you using synthetic oil.

My experience exactly. The service rep released a long aaaah when I mentioned that I have used synthetic since 6k miles (12k miles now on the car). The tech mentioned that Nissan doesn't recommend synthetic before 15k miles and when I said there is no such mention in the OM or FSM, he had nothing to say. They switched out my synthetic to mineral for the test (NNA tech line asked them to, apparently) and it is now on its 3rd day. I bet I will still have consumption.
Has anyone's dealer mentioned that they will "seal" the engine (dipstick, filter and drain plug) during the test? Mine did. Trust issues I guess
BS since they can't quite seal it. But I could care less; i don't plan to check the level until I bring it back to them next month anyway.
