Default HKS Grounding System

Someone just asked me what was the advantages of the HKS Grounding system where all the wires connect to the negative terminal of the battery.

To be completely honest with you, I don’t know. Technically speaking, I can’t tell you the advantages of the HKS set up.

However, it seems what we are looking at is the difference between a Series and a Parallel circuit.

Here is a pretty good explanation I dug up:

Series Circuits

A single path is allowed for electron flow.

A break anywhere along the path stops the electron flow in the entire circuit. (Devices in series act dependently.)

The total resistance in a circuit is equal to the sum of the individual resistances along the current path. RT = R1 + R2 + R3 ...

The current anywhere along the circuit is equal to the voltage supplied by the source divided by the total resistance of the circuit. (Ohm's Law)

The potential difference, or voltage, is decreased over each resistance. The sum of the "voltage drops" should be equal to the amount of voltage supplied.

VT = V1 + V2 + V3 + ...

The voltage drop across each device is proportional to its resistance.

Parallel Circuits

Branches are formed providing separate paths for the flow of electrons.

Since current branches into separate pathways, a break in one or more of those pathways does not interrupt the flow in the other paths. (Devices act independently.)

The total equivalent resistance is less than the value of any individual resistor.

1/RT = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 + ...

Each device connects the same two points of the circuit; therefore, the voltage is the same across each device.

The amount of current in each branch is inversely proportional to the resistance of the branch.

The total current is equal to the sum of the currents in each branch.

IT = I1 + I2 + I3 + ...

You tell me which is better in this application!

My grounding kit was modeled after the Hyper Ground System and the Nissan JDM Earthing Kit.

It would take some serious research to determine which configuration is best.

BTW, if you haven’t guessed, my kit along with the Hyper Ground System and the Nissan JDM Earthing Kit are Series circuits.

The HKS system is a Parallel circuit.

?? Does the 350Z kit work for G35 Sedan? Also do you have specific directions for G35 Sedan or are the ones for 350Z adiquate?

Thanks, Robert

I have a kit on the G35 coupe that Guy helped to develop.

Another note:
I installed the 6th wire (thanks Guy) and on the G35, I can actually mount it to the factory ground point. Cosmetically it looks pretty cool. As to any improvement, I can't detect any.

Guy, I would offer the 6th wire as a (cosmetic) option for $ X.XX that way the buyer has his choice.

Sorry, I wish I had more posititive performance info. Personally, I would want the option, cause it looks cool.
It's only money, right?

Guy,

Some of us were Pioneer's for your product and now you are famous! You are the water cooler talk at my job!

I want the 6th wire. I feel like I am running on 5 cylinders now!

Come on now step up!

I want the matching Blue one, I recently painted some parts of my engine Blue (STB etc) pics will be in it's own thread Tues or Wednesday after some more mods and a bath.

Botton Line,

I want a 6th Blue Wire. How much and when! "No" and "silver only" are not acceptable answers, don't make me cry now!

Pay Pal to commence ASAP just say the word!

Also, Do you have a website? I will link to it. When is your B-Day, what do you want? What is my tracking number

I don't know if it's just me,

But after installing the grounding kit, I noticed that because the RPMs now seem to drop quicker... it's harder to shifter as smooth as I used to.

It's like, the clutch is more sensitive now in every shift... so matching REVs is numerous times as hard as it used to be..

Which I guess I view as a potential downside.

Guy,
Finally installed the 6th wire a couple of days ago, and to tell you the truth, I can't really
feel the difference with the 6th wire, but that's just me. But, I like the looks of the 6th wire, and if I were to purchase the kit, I would pay that extra $$ for the 6th wire ( and most people would agree with me). I'll drive it some more and tell you if I notice something. Great job on the kit. I love it. !!!!!

Another satisfied customer

Thanks again.

Though it turned out to be about a six hour job for me after I broke the ground wire bolt. Ouch. After many unsuccessful attempts using a bolt extracter, I ended up drilling a hole about 1/4 of an inch to the right of the original hole. I then proceeded to drop a bolt into the engine compartment. Doh!

Funny thing though. I spent about an hour looking for the runaway bolt. Took off about 6-7 of the bolts that hold the undercarriage cover, kept pulling it back, no bolt. Finally decided to give up and put it all back together again. As I was tightening the last bolt, the stupid bolt dropped through one of the holes in the cover. For a second there, the phrase "act of God" popped into my mind.

The HKS system is a Parallel circuit. [/B]
Think Christmas lights. You know the ones where if one bulb goes the whole string goes? Series.
The one where one bulb goes and the rest stay on is parallel.

So are we stringing Christmas lights on our engines? No. But the HKS system would isolate a grounding opprtunity and ground it as all the wires work independently of each other as opposed to spreading the ground out around the motor and then to the battery. How much of a difference does this make with a negative charge? Probably not much. I will probably go with the HKS later when I have nothing left to mod but what do I know? I just sell food.

Default Thanks!

Just wanted to post a thanks to Guy! My kit was at home waiting for me today, so I installed it right after work, didn't do much driving tonight but can definitely tell idle is lower and throttle response seems better. Thanks again for providing us all with a great kit.

Default Grounding Kit Request

Is Insaine still selling this grounding kit?
I have been e-mailing him periodiacally, but have not gotten any response, not sure what's up with that.

Any info someone can provide would be great. Or if somone can provide me with the procedure from ordering these from him would be great too.

Hi Mudd....

Use this address InSaNeAmine@***.net

I just ordered a Red and a Silver set. I found him to reply promply, and courteously.

Cheers Amy -

I used HAARP Remote viewing on him utilizing my mind control I drove him "Insane" for not resonding to my offer of a 6th cable.

April Fools at least here on the West Coast. He is probably busy making a set right now. He hand makes each one and that is the reason he is so popular, he will respond and you WILL be happy with it repeat that 6 times then view the following link!
I got mine in 3 days.

HAARP Link

You can pay him via Paypal at: Z-Xtreme@***.net
(This is separate from his insaneamine account which he uses for other things.)

The kits are $75.00 + shipping which is less than $10. I have always just sent the $85 to make it easy. (Have installed 3 kits now). Color choices are back on about page 3 or 4 of this thread.

Exclamation G35 Oowner!

Calling all cars!

I am looking for any G35 Coupe owners in the Greater New Orleans area that are interested in getting a grounding kit for their car.

I am interested in producing a full pictorial installation guide for my web site. I will need about 3 hours of your time for the installation and pictures.

In return, I am offering a FREE grounding kit tailored to your G35 in any of the colors available. In addition, I will professionally install the kit at no charge. Unless you really want to do it yourself.

Interested parties can email me at Z-Xtreme@***.net or InSaNeAmine@***.net

I posted this on the G35 forums a couple of weeks ago and still have no takers - go figure.

I now have the 6th wire that insanemine was generous enough to provide me. It is hard to say if there is any improvement over the 5 wires since it was already so smooth but sure seems smooth to me. But whether you can feel the improvement of 6th wire install, there is no doubt the grounding kit improves the overall performance of your Z. I highly recommend obtaining one for your car if you have not already. You would not find a better businessman to purchase from and work with than Guy, if you decide to purchase one from him.

Since I have one of yours on my car I am gonna add it to the link section of my web page, what other plans do you have for performance parts?

Installed the kit today, funny enough the Australian version of the car has the battery on the top right hand side.

It wasn't a problem, i ended up going from the top right hand manifold point instead.

took me a whole 1 hr to do... boy that was easy as!
