Was looking at your pics to see the mods that were done to see if I can run the best parts of both our setups together and then have another LS-Z to sell to offset some of the cost. I figure it would cost as much or more to get a fully functioning setup done.

Same as always ... just livin the life. Had some other interests take a front seat for a while, cycled through a couple different cars too. Finally getting back into the Z and keep thinking about wanting more power. Once you taste 600+whp, nothing less is ever good enough.

How you doing? ANy new rides or builds for you while I was away?

That's good to hear. I've been doing the same. I got rid of the Z to fund the motor build in my purpose build BMW M3 race car. I had toyed with the idea of Spec Z, but there weren't many cars racing so I decided on NASA GTS-2. I also bought an IS-F for daily driving duties.

Selling my swap kit stuff. All parts are brand new in the box! The roller has been sold and would be willing to give someone a deal to move the parts.

Sikky Swap kit - $2000 plus shipping
Sikky 1 7/8" Headers - $600 plus shipping
Sikky Master Cylinder Conversion - $225 shipped
Chase Bays Harness - $600 shipped

Another note does anyone know what the protocol of the LS tach signal is? Also does anyone know what the protocol of the "merged" Z tach signal is as well?

The SGI-8 D doesn't say what protocols it cannot output. This is cheap enough to warrant an experiment!!

Cass I'm down for providing some development dollars as well towards this. I have an O-Scope and plenty of soldering materials to make it happen!!

Also we could buy a spare cluster to use as a development tool. I can/will put money on this as well. Are those inexpensive? I believe I can cover a lot of the ground work if I can get a schematic and the protocols of the two tach signals. I can try to duplicate both protocols in software to test as well. Then once the parts come in I can start doing some tests on the test cluster.

What do you guys think?
An old thread, but wondering if anyone has actually used the Dakota Digital SGI-8 unit for the tachometer in an LSX conversion?

Default considering LS swap

After blowing my motor I am craving more HP. Thinking either supercharged VQ or just going V8. Doing some research on cost and headache comparisons. How much weight is added to with LS swap? I plan on running NASA TT/PT2

My LS2 Z has a minimum race weight of 3320 lbs. That's with me in the car (220lbs), and a roll cage (~80-100lbs). I'm current set up to run TT2/ST2. If you want more info/details PM me.

Default Best bang for the buck?

Hello everyone I have a 2005 350z Grand Touring edition. Right now my Z has 65k miles on it and of course I want more HP lol I have been looking at forced induction but of course I have concerns considering my motor is very high compression. Ive heard of people doing LS swaps in these cars but honestly my main concern is losing luxury's that my Z has. So is it better to rebuild the motor I have now and put some TT's on there or just go ahead and do the LS swap. If I do the swap will I lose the luxuries my car has came with? AC,Digital gauges...etc. Thank you so much in advance. Also if anyone has done the LS swap could you list an average price of the build.

LS motors are high compression (10:1) and people boost those just as much as people boost these engines. Do it and keep the boost low and you'll be fine.

This topic has really been beaten to death. The best option is to either sell your Z, buy a Vette and put up with the poor build quality. Or rebuild your VQ with a built shortblock and FI app for big bucks...

Im struggling with understanding the wiring with my swap. I have PSI's stand alone harness but which Z wiring stays in the car? I know I dont need the vq35 engine wiring but all wiring seems to run off that main engine harness. would appreciate some help. thanks

Check out lt1swap.com
Lots of good info on wiring up LSX swaps on that site.
