My 2JZ-GTE VVTI swap thread.
I contacted Hal about the Haltech 350z/2JZ unit and he said the CAN BUS of the 07+ may not be the same as the older models and I felt he didn't want to deal with it. Though The Syvecs guys assured me that its the same.
So, I can't get the Haltech because of that and can't get the Syvecs because of the lack of tuners that familiar with it.
I'm stuck with the AEM V2

AEM is fine if the tuner takes his time. This is one reason I went with a 2jzgte vs the 1jz because the 2jzgte ecu is pretty dam good and to get the same driveability out of standalone will take 4 eva. But can be done 4 sure. This user has both AEM on one ride vs Motec on the other and Motec supposedly is the mother of all:

Some back and forth between some OG's jeffstai and sakataj on the very topic of AEM not being good enuff which does seem to fall solely on the tuner. GL man:

i mean im assuming the AEM obviously lets you do about 90% of what you really wanna do then its probably good enough for the builds so i guess it does make sense
Jefftsai
It allows me to control everything I need to. I can easily lay down way past the 1krwhp+ mark with the unit. Hell, there are some guys making 1500+ on the V1, and that unit has less features than the v2 lol. The V2 is pretty versatile and can do everything needed. This car runs on E85 full time year round, so I don't really "need" the Flex Fuel support, but it would be nice for the one or two times I do take a road trip throughout the year. Doesn't really matter because when I do go on a roadtrip, I just upload the pump gas tune into it so I can fill up at normal gas stations. It literally takes 5 seconds to do it so I'm not too worried.
Worse case scenario, I can upgrade to the AEM Infinity Standalone or Pro EFI. I'm part of the AEM dealer network, and I'm at warehouse distributor level for almost every single aftermarket company out there. So I can get any ECU I want, but the EMS v2 does everything needed for under $1k...for me at least

I didn't mean the AEM V2 was not good. Its one of the best choices for the 2JZ and still under $2k. I just wanted an EMS that support the CAN BUS and have a good traction control system like the Syvecs. I'm thinking about getting the Race Logic Traction Control. They have a CAN BUS unit that you don't need to splice any wiring for it.

oem pumpkin. For now at least. I actually neva considered or cared for traction control but i can see the use for it if your able to tune for boost by gear or speed and have it all incorporated into one unit. Motec I believe has this but costs way more. Keep at it man. No need to let TC slow the process down one bit
I'm only thinking about TC because we have the most slippery roads in the world. They are so smooth you can almost see your reflection on the road at daylight.lol
Hell, my friends can't get traction even with their EVO's and GTR's.
Also I'm looking for a 3.3 pumpkin to swap out my 3.5 and may shimm it just to make sure its tight and will lock up.

if they can tune motec, they can tune syvecs. its pretty similiar

Awesome bro! Would you be able to take some measurements for me?
Firewall to back of engine. Intake/exhaust surface on the head to the strut towers. Cam gears to rad support.
Your mounts are different than mine, but side to side they should be close since the engine will sit center.

Sure, I will do that when I get back to the city.
Though, I'm running a copy of the Greddy intake manifold and its wider at the throttle side than the OEM IM. We are having problem routing the pipe there and we may have to weld the TB directly to the IM without the adapter plate.
And for front to rear, I'm running the GS300 fans and shroud and the CD0009. So its really tight fit.
I barely have an inch on each of the four sides of the engine.
I wish I have gone with a custom radiator core support.
We couldn't mount the fans. They still hit the water pump pulley no matter what we do.
So, we are going with a custom radiator core. I dont want to mount the fans infront of the radiator.
