Got a problem!!! My freshly built Z is overheating and spewing antifreeze
I hotlapped the car at the track last night, with ZERO issues and today, I take it to the store less than 2 miles round trip and she starts to overheat.
When I get it back to check it out, there is antifreeze everywhere and the overflow tank is completely full??? Its kind of dark, so I can't see if a coolant hose broke, but I could check in the morning, is that a possible issue?
Anything else to look for? The car didn't overboost, or overheat past 3/4 gauge, any suggestions? I need some help, anybody?

compression and more importantly leakdown
if you have a headgasket issue that is how you will see it easier, that much fluid coming out is more than simple air in the system more like combustion getting into the cooling system, been there done that have the t-shirt when my sleeves were done incorrectly

Any volunteers?
that sucks, I bought all the best parts including the L19 bolts, arp everywhere!
And to boot, my shop closed, well it looks like I may be screwed! Forged, if they are willing, I would love to have a little rehab, and perhaps, it won't be as bad as it sounds.

well I hope it is not bad but I battled spewing coolant for 2 months hoping it was air in the system until a leakdown delivered the verdict
unfortunately you can use the best parts available but that is only half of it the other half and most important is the building itself, like in my case the machine shop botching the sleeve install. GL

I am going to try and pressurize the coolant system tomorrow, buddy told me to try that, and if I can't find a leak, then a leak down is next.
I am not sleeved, if that is any consolation?

well only that you didn't spend as much
pressurizing the cooling system wont be the final answer if it is a headgasket issue, you can only pressure it so much and mine passed without a problem, when you do a leakdown you pressure it a lot more and will find the smallest leak
you have to realize that the combustion pressures are a hell of a lot more than cooling system pressures and will expose the smallest of leaks

you should check the overflow bottle and you can see little black stuff in there. also test your thermostat. those are easy ways to check for headgasket issues. if its your headgasket then your turbos are toast as well and will have lots of shaft play. peices of headgasket in the exhaust dont do so well for your turbos. i learned this by experience.

I agree with sharif that he has some kind of headgasket issue. Ive seen people go thru the same thing and at the end of the day it was a headgasket issue. I wish you the best my man and im sure FP will help you out

I spoke to a friend who is a mechanic at local dealership, and Im hoping that he is right. His main concern was whether or not the car was missing or running rough (and definatively it wasn't), so he thinks that the problem lies somewhere in the coolant system.
I will give you a call on Monday. Looks like you probably have a head gasket issue. The cause of it....TBD.

It could be a bad radiator cap. Another thing you can do is take the rubber hose that goes to your overflow tank and put that in a clear plastic bottle filled with water. Start your engine and see if it makes bubbles. This would indicate one of two things. 1. Your head gasket is bad and air is entering into your coolant system. or 2. You have a bad radiator cap. I would also check your radiator fans as your radiator may of been able to cool when you were going fast around the track but not at slow speeds around town. Not sure if there are two fans in our cars but if one isn't working it will cause the car to overheat sitting in traffic. The only good sign is that you don't have oil in your coolant (Still could be a head gasket though) so just maybe it is the radiator cap.
