I'm guessing highway cruising at that temp could cause your oil temps to drop with an oil cooler?
yes it could. That was where i was going with the whole thing.

Like this spring. On my way back from chicago my coolant temps were around 180*. It was in the upper 40's during this night drive. My oil temps were down in the 140's and that was without a cooler installed. So with a cooler it would probably be 20 degrees colder at least on the highway.

I was surprised to see my oil temps that low but that's where it was. Usualy highway during the daytime (60's here in the spring) i don't see more than 160 deg. So basically with that thermostat i would be driving it like i didn't even have it but then once i start banging through the gears and the temps go above 160 the thermostat would start to open and the cooler would take effect.

Right now at 80 deg outside when i'm on the interstate my oil temps are 170's without a cooler.

The reason a track car never needs it is due to the fact that they are never going to be "highway cruising".

both............lol...

no but for real? what do you have issues with in your climate, track side, etc???

you having high oil temp issue.........then oil cooler...

if your having overheating issues, then koyo.....

two different systems, both good upgrades if/as needed.......

if your looking to mod just to mod.....then either or......

got both, GTM HD Oil cooler + Koyo 36mm rad.. tbh, money well spent on those.. and IMO, we need those for our weather (GCC countries), don't skip any of them if you can buy both.

get the oil cooler. you'll be surprised at the difference in temps with an aftermarket oil cooler. well worth the money.

you can just get a racerpartswholesale oil cooler for 180$ and haev plenty left over for a radiator.

So if you buy a sensible costed item you can get both. If you buy a crazy expensive 500$ stillen kit then you can't.

easy fix.
