Another built motor Vortech dreamer thread.
Way to go Josh!
That will get you 11.30's 1/4 mile.
Going to a Bias Front Skinnie will make it easy to handle up top. Some cars get a little squarely at high speeds with radials up front and Bias in the rear, just depends on the car and setup.

New times, launching around 4k. I'll have video tomorrow. Best so far.
1.76. 60ft
4.89. 330ft
7.40. 1/8
98.75
Car is a handful on the top end for sure with these mickeys. I'm still getting used to the setup but I feel I'm not doing to bad. I had some spin still in first. I'm down to 12 psi. I'll have to lower just a little more and possible heat tires up. I was doing 2nd gear burnouts.

Today in my quest for more power...
I borrowed a friends new kinetix velocity intake. Went to soho and did some pulls with my current set up and then changed the manifold only and did more pulls/testing. No changes were done to the tune. Now I wasn't expecting anything crazy on gains. What did happen was my afrs went rich around 4500 to redline. Ended up dropping about 25hp and 30 or so more trq.
Boost was the same every run at 20psi. Let the car cool down between runs. Did about 7 total pulls.
Now my question is, if the kinetix is as good as most say, shouldn't I be running leaner and not richer since I should be taking in more air? All I was trying to do was see something promising, wasn't looking for big gains, especially untuned. Just surprised it lost so much power. Well anyways, I'll post pics and vids. Nic at soho was kind enough to let us spend 3 hours swapping things around. Great pricing also.

The Kinetix Velocity does not make good gains. People stopped claiming that a while ago after some extensive testing. I chose the Velocity more for its cooling ability over my painted MREV+ and spacer.

The explaination is it wasn't a loss in power it was a shift of power. Which it needs tuning for. What I'm saying is. It's tuned to run at X position on the map for stock intake but it was running farther to the right with the kinetix.

Went back to the track last night, only made 1 full pass.
1.72 60ft
7.46@95
Only hitting 17psi. Think I might be leaking some boost from one of my couplers. Gonna check over it soon. Had a brand new belt on. It was slammed packed last night.
I also have a cosworth intake on the way. Gonna see if any gains will be made on it. I currently have my blower set up for sale. If it doesn't sell, I'll be adding another power adder to my setup.

Well the cosworth intake fell through. Not many bites on the blower. Looks like I might be following through with my original plan of adding nitrous on top. Gonna be putting some money back.
Question to some of you guys, I'm currently running Jim wolf c2 cams. Would it benefit me to go with bigger cams? I seen a few have been going with tomei 272 and bcs like Resmarted. I plan on making the switch to e85 also. Just throwing around ideas.
Also since it's kinda hard to keep my car still during a burnout, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy some line locks. I can stand on the brakes as hard as I can and the car still wants to go forward.

The Blower will Love Nitrous.
Even with my Line Locks, I have to pump the brakes 2-3 time then hold down very hard when setting the line lock. But once I got the hang of it, it's no big deal.

Well looks like I'll have a cosworth on the way now. So this will be fun to see if I can get anything out of it. On another note, finally found someone that could out run me. At a private track we did a couple different rolls. At 40 I jumped out 3-4 cars and he had to reel me back in but took a good while. 60 rolls and I get half a car and he walks past me pretty easy. He was in a nice 240sx with a 1jz and big turbo. Said it made low 600s. He also owns a 350z. So the itch for more power has increased a lot now lol.
Put a 50 shot in her and kiss that 240 GOODBYE
As for the cosworth, and 272's I wouldn't bother. Nitrous would be better choice, but beyond that cosworth seems to fall off power in the high 7k range. Id say the 264's you have would be a good fit

If I can retune and make some power to 7200 with this cosworth I'll be happy. Been trying to find info on other vortech builds with cosoworths and can only find a couple. And the ones I can find, I can't seem to find any dyno sheets to see how the curve acts up top. Guess I'll find out for myself soon enough. Car falls on its face after 6500 and it sucks, if I was still making power to redline, that 240 would of stayed behind me. It was banging 5th by the time he came back up to me from the 40 roll. He's not a slow car at all. It shines up top.
Its so weired that your only making 580 with built motor and bigger blower and old man z is making 570 with a smaller blower on stock motor. Im betting once you can go E85 it will become crazy, but untill then I hope you can find out what is holding you back up top. Im hoping this plenum fixes your problems and allows you to add some NO2 up top as well.
