Just finished the plenum install. The sound is great...I can feel a bit of power difference...The fitment was perfect...and it sealed with no problems.
BUUUUUT....
1. My hood rubs the front right of the plenum
2. My Greddy strut bar does not clear it, and when i use the spacers, the bar hits the hood
3. My engine cover comes nowhere close to fitting
4. My K&N CAI will not line up to bolt the side support

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c332/rs90808/?action=view¤t=install3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c332/rs90808/install3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

There is no way i can situate the hose clamps on the intake to where it seals well to the throttle body AND bolt into that hole at the same time. That is as close as i can get it.
I think i'm going to just dremel that part of the hood down a bit...too bad it f'd up the paint is just put on it. But what strut bar besides OEM could work with this plenum? And is my carbon fiber engine cover different from OEM? because this plenum is supposed to work with all OEM parts. Maybe i can use the dremel and cut back the cover...ive just never messed with carbon fiber and dont want to screw it up.
Does anyone have pictures of theie Kinetix V+ setup WITH their engine cover and strut bar?
By the way Ive searched 'Kinetix' within the forum and read EVERY thread...I'm just looking for responses to my specific situation.
good luck. people that have these usually get rid of them soon thereafter due to kinetix being a POS. prone to flex in the center when revving and crack on the edges.

On the new models also? I've not heard of any problems with these except for people installing them incorrectly and cracking.
The hood rubbing is normal, it will "sand" itself down over time, or you can do it yrouself and repaint the spot on the plenum. Nice paint job BTW.
For the strut bar, you could go back to OEM and sell yours. And i'm sure you will get more for yours then what you pay for a used OEM bar. (They go for like $20) Or you could use the APS or Stillen strut tower bar. They both go in the front.
And as for the cover. Take some time with a Dremel, and you can make it fit very nice with the Kinetix!! You have to be imaginative, take your time, and trim off a good portion, but you can make it look REALLY nice. So that it both looks OEM and shows off the plenum at the same time!! I'll dig up some pics of mine when i get a chance, it turned out great!!
Something about the bend radius of the neck of the Kinetix plenum does make it have issues with lining things up for the intake. I bought a $30 throttle body spacer off ebay and it fixed the issue. Try that, it should make everything line up again like OEM.
I know this sounds like alot of drama fo this plenum. But i think it's uniqueness, and the great sound alone is worth it!

New models are fine, don't listen to others. Had mine for two years with zero issues. I think you only start running into problems if you go FI because of the cork gasket they use.

Ive had mine for 2 years, everything lined up fine with mine, as for the rub I just cut a small section out of the hood brace where it had rubbed the paint off and cleaned it up.

i really appreciate this response thanks! i think i can cut the engine cover just fine...but do i have to epoxy the edges to seal? definitely post those pictures up if you can find them.
and i'll probably be posting my strut bar up for trade for a stocker

Well i trimmed my engine cover...turned out great. The edges now are cleaner than they were before...and no need for any type of 'sealer'.
And by the way...i LOVE this plenum. on top of the sound and the performance difference i notice, it all has COMPLETELY smoothed out my idle. Which actually makes me think i MAY have had a small leak before. It now idles a bit higher and NO sputter.

Now i just need to buy an OEM strut bar since my Greddy wont fit...

looks good. i have had mine for a year now and got it off my friend before he sold his old car which was on his for about a year. no problems at all. It does fit with the oem strut bar. you need to have the spacers for the strut bar to clear the plenums height. My plenum sanded itself down the same place where yours did. Kinetix states for the new plenum that its...
Imrpoved in EVERY aspect over our previous intake plenum, including performance:
* 270% stronger than previous plenum
* Incredible heat resistance, improved 170%, now up to 500 degrees F
* Lower operating temperatures - 50 degrees cooler than ANY aluminum plenum option
* More volume! 20% more volume than factory and 12% more than our previous version
* Completely smooth underside with NO flow restrictions
* Can handle boosted cars, with lifetime warranty on cars up to 15 psi
* Lifetime Warranty
* Check out our upcoming "Upgrade Program" for our previous plenum customers!

I have one as well, been on the car for almost 2 yrs. no issues whatsoever. You must use spacers under the stock strut... I had to angle it slightly back though... I haven't had the rubbing issue on the hood, and my engine cover is cut and painted to fit.

thank you search engine for working correctly for once! Finally i got a chance to installed this plenum. After putting everything back on and started the car, I noticed a small vibration at idle and at EXACTLY 1500 RPM. Drive around a few days thinking the problem would go away but I still experienced the rough vibration at idling.
Removed the OEM strut bar today and the vibration went away! The problem is the bar is too close to the "dip" section on the plenum and i guess it created the vibration. Tested drive a couple laps and everything is smooth like how its suppose to be! Great butt-dyno feeling and more pulls in all gears.
How am i suppose to adjust the strut bar so that it wont vibrate with this plenum? I previously had the 5/16 plenum spacer and i did the 1.7 turn adjustment per the instruction from Motordyne.
