i was on my way to URI last sat and while cruisin on the highway, everytime i would give it a little gas past 77mph it would make this low whistle sound, and wen i let off the gas it would go away...does anyone know what it could be??

is it engine related or body dynamics related? if it's engine most likely you would hear the noise at the same rpm regardless of what speed you are going. if it's aerodynamics, it would be speed-based and would be wind whistling through a crevice somewhere. some people have complained about wind whistling through the side mirror housing.

 

its only wen i step on the gas at that certain speed or if i set it on cruise control it will make the noise until i turn it off...it starts as soon as i give it the smallest amount of gas after 75mph

 

I have the same thing. Mine is an 04.5 btw.

Anytime above 80mph more so for me. But coasting at 80 while the foot comes off the gas...no noise. But after pressing back into the pedal no matter how much gas I give it....it gets the noise....

Weird...and since two of us have this, I'm wondering if more have the same thing.

FYI the motor runs strong at 23K on the ODO and don't have any other weird noises coming from it.

it either the differential, tranny or tires, there are several threads on this, most say its normal, i have the same noise

 

I have the same thing as well. 80MPH+, there's a whistling noise. Hopefully nothing bad, but it scares me. This car makes me so paranoid sometimes.

 

in my 06 i get a whistling noise that seems like it is audible through the air vents while pressing the accelerator in any gear and is higher in pitch as the RPM's increase.... it is independent of the air conditioning system as it does it if the air is turned off and the same with radio and everything i have tried

 

go get ur car checked at nissan mine was cause somehow rear passenger strut arm or something was slightly bent

 

I seem to have a weird noise at 80 mph, but only if the throttle pedal is pressed. I can't say its a wind wistle noise as it does sound more mechanical. The sound is very very subtle. I didn't think much of it until I noticed it happened exactly at 79-80 mph and its consistent.

I have no clue. Could be a number of different things as people said in above posts.

 

now it does the low whistle noise in every gear higher then 3rd at low rpms only...between 2k-3k

 

It's the popcharger or intake and it's normal

 

Update: I don't hear the noise anymore. I also changed my tires/air filter and then the noise disappeared. Could have been tires and/or my air filter.
