I figured out my window roll down problem. First you should try cleaning it with electric motor cleaner as in the DIY thread.

I did that and it did nothing.. I bought a new motor, still nothing..

Then I had an epiphany and looked at the window switch Male prongs for the connector... I discovered 1 was bent and not going into the female side I then took some needle nose plyers to straighten the prong and cleaned the window switch prongs with Electric motor cleaner, just a slight spray and plugged it..... BAM!! Its perfect!! It lowers again when u open the door, and doesnt automatically fall when u close the door....

Im going to post this in all the window threads to people can check there connectors too.. It could be happening a lot... No need to pay a dealer 500 for bs....

Side note: I noticed where it did bend the prong that female hole on the connector is smaller than all the others which could deflect the prong easily if not careful.... Leading to our cars being ****ed up by dealers techs etc. Then we discover the problem later.

Just replaced mine today in about hour and half for drivers side, taking my time. Its really easy. I actually forgot to reset it but my window works fine, even does the auto up perfectly when closed . Do they always have to be reset?

Does a window motor for sale go in exterior or interior? LOL

Awesome write up! My passenger window motor just died the other day, and I'm planning on doing this soon.

On a side note, does anybody know if the later years of the Z (07-08) or the G35 have different motors that we might be able to swap in? Or better yet, I know this is too early right now probably, but maybe the 370Z's window motor isn't flawed like ours, and might fit our 350Z's? Who knows, but I'd really like it if we can just find a more stable solution than replacing our motors and extending the same ol' timebomb.

Don't use any grease on the motor's internals. Only use a good electrical contact cleaner...

Thank you so much for this great write-up vo7848!

My passenger window was having the whole range of odd issues. Sometimes it would not close the last 1/2" after closing the door, or it would get stuck halfway down, or all the way down and after beating on the door would sluggishly go back up. I have no desire to peform hours of labor taking the door apart and cleaning the motor when it will likely go out again within a few weeks or months... so I went ahead and ordered a new motor for my passenger side window last night at Autozone. Everybody keeps saying that Advance Auto Parts is cheaper, which is true up front... however after core trade in Autozone and Advance are both $144.99 for the passenger side motor, and both give a lifetime warranty. I had a $20 credit on the rewards card for Autozone, so I will only end up paying $124.99 after core trade in. With a lifetime warranty and me performing the labor (free), buying the motor from Autozone for $124 is a no-brainer compared to paying $200+ for a new one from Nissan with a crappy warranty.

well after trying Jay'z method i ruled that out and after trying this motor here that motor there. I opened the main switch box and discovered what seems to be a burnt circuit board not sure here are the pics you tell me what you think.

Thanks again for the write-up. I just installed a refurbished motor from Autozone in about an hour and a half. The part that took the longest was that I rolled the window down as a few people suggested rather than taping the window in place and it took a while to line the window track bolts back up. I did the reset and window test and it is working great now and the motor has a lifetime warranty if it ever does go out again!

Repaired mine 11 months ago and so far, so good. More than worth it compared to a new motor.

did any of y'all's window motors get flaky before they stopped working completely?
my just totally died randomly in my '06 Z with 20k miles, no symptoms what so ever. I checked the fuses under the hood and near the clutch, all good. doesn't make sense

vo7848, Thanks for this write up!! I just did the cleaning method today and seems ok for now. I'm broke so can't be buying a motor yet. Hopefully last for at least a year. It took my about 2 1\2 hrs tho. Some of you guys did it pretty quick. Anyways, thanks again.
