Question

My 03 touring driver window is starting to make noise/get stuck, so i found this thread Only thing is, I have Hertz HSK 6.5" 3-way components and tweeters with Wicked CAS door pods & tweeters... I know nothing of audio/electronics, but can imagine this may be more troubling removing the door panel with these speakers/pod... does anyone have any advise? Anyone perform this DIY that had Door Pods? I plan on just getting a replacement motor because I wont want to do it twice if cleaning does not work.... Any advise on removing door panel that has Wicked CAS pods would be much appreciated!!!

Edit: I also have upgraded 2008 door panels if that creates more caution?!?

The inside of my motor looked exactly like yours. I used the same exact cleaner as you mentioned. Works beautifully. Was about to buy a new motor. Thanks a lot for the write-up you saved my a$s from unnecessarily spending money. Appreciated

Default what is going on?

My last motor lasted from 06-07-2011 until today. And most of my other ones lasted from 6-12 months. Seems like whether they were from Autozone or OReilly they were reman. by Cardone? Do these guys know what they are doing?
Is anyone else having this re-occurance? I think I'm on motor number 5?!
Yeah I only paid for the first one but this is nuts! What am I missing? I think the only thing I could be doing wrong is adjustment of the regulator. Did you notice that the bottom two bolts/ (or are they screws?) adjust the angle of the regualtor track and can put the motor into a bind? I did after the second motor and always try to get it adjusted so that the motor sounds like it is making the least amount of effort to make the window go up and down. No procedure that I found in the service manual to measure anything or align anything.

Hey guys my motor isn't broken but I had my car re painted and the driver side wiring harness for the windows and locks came apart and all the wires are just hanging free. Can any one post pics of the large harness clip in different angles so I can try to put them back where they belong. I don't want to buy a whole new harness, mine is fine. I just need to put the wires back in their correct places so my switches can work again. This would be a great help. Thank you in advance to anyone that may or will do this for me!

I accidentally spun the motor a tad bit before I pulled it out. I had to rotated the square that connects to the spindle so it would line up. Now my window will go up but automatically go halfway down. Is there a way I can fix that??

Just go back to the first page of this thread and check out the reset procedure .pdf that VO7848 posted for us and you should be back to normal

motor 3 on its way out. good thing these bishes have lifetime warranty and are not costing me anymore money. I guess when I do my stereo install here when the weather warms up, I will pull the motors again and replace them

How long did your's last each time?

I sent a polite email to Cardone about my experience and asked what they did to them. They claim they "are removing and welding 100% the new carbon on the motors and change the method to apply grease in the gear/arm shaft"

I assume they mean welding/soldering in new carbon brushes. They must be using some soft brushes! Has anyone taken apart a remanufactured motor either when they first got it or when it failed to compare against the OEM internal parts? Quality of parts used and if they fail the same way.

I guess when my next one goes out in 6-12 months I will be taking apart the motor I return real quick just to check it out. After I took apart the OEM one and saw how much cleaning needed to be done to do a good solder job to replace the brushes with my own from the hobby store I decided to forget it and return the remanufactured one and just be done with it. Wasting time is not always better than spending money as I get older.

There is a thread on here "They can be fixed" or something like that where a guy took them apart and made them better.

As for your other question. They last about a year and then they are done for. I live in GA, so I do use the windows a lot

I just saw that thread last night as I was going through the maintenance section. I think I saw it a couple of years ago and is why I bought some motor brushes. I was wondering if I should be taking repairs into my own hands again instead of being a R&R monkey all the time Although, it is quicker and it is a lifetime warranty. I think these crappy motors are a gamble either way from what I have read.

Thanks for the feedback on how often for you.

If you use better 540 carbon brushes (silver infused, for instance), you'll probably get better results. My guess is that the brushes being used are too soft, and crud up the armature and surrounding assembly.

Silver brushes will not discharge nearly so much dust, at the expense of modestly more aggressive wear on the armature.

They're also a helluva lot more expensive than conventional soft carbon brushes.

Can I get a copy of this pdf for fixing the motor? My window motor died last week and my independent mechanic is suggesting to buy a $500 dealer part. I asked why and he stated that my early model touring 2003 350Z requires it. Also he claim brushed are worn out and so it cant be fixed easily either. Dam this is confusing.

Thanks for any help

Exclamation Window Regulator or Motor?

I recently replaced my stuck passenger window motor and works like a charm now however my driver side is now not working but I was wondering if it was the regulator that needs to be replaced or the actual motor? I first noticed there was an issue when I closed the door and as the window rolled up and sealed itself I heard a "pop". After that it stopped working. When I press down/up I hear the motor turn but not like it's stuck. I can hear it spin freely just the window doesn't move. It's a totally different sound from my passenger side which was a stuck motor sound and not free spinning. Also everytime I bump the door or close it I notice the window slides down and everytime before I shut the door I have to manually grab the window and pull up on it. I want to fix it myself instead of taking it the stealership who wants to charge $500+! I just don't know if its the motor or regulator? Any insight on this folks?

your mechanic is full of BS. MY 2003 Touring has the rebuilt unit on it and is working fine. I put it in myself.

just an fyi about these motors: cleaning is only a temporary fix. eventually you will have to replace the motor or replace the brushes (cheaper alternative). i spent less than $4. to fix my window motor
