Hi forum, I’m new here and did’nt find any thread on this issue when i searched the forum.
I just bought my dream car, a 2005 Nissan 350Z, but it’s got an issue I can’t figure out?
The car locks/unlocks just fine with the key in the door, aswell as it starts and runs great. But the remote on the car keys does’nt work. I have two keys, and I’ve tried to swap to new batteries twice, in both keys, but I still can’t lock/unlock the car by remote control.
Could it be an issue with some electronics in the car, that I can deal with my self, or would it most likely need a reprogramming of the keys at a Nissan dealership?
Thank you.
It did’nt work though. I’m not sure if it’s because I have these keys with buttons on it. As I understand a key fob is a remote thats seperate from the car key - right?
Ah, I see. You guys across the pond must have different keys than us over here in the States. While some people have changed over to different flip-style or switchblade keys with the buttons on the key, our OEM keys did not have any buttons on them and had a separate fob or transponder and they look like this:
It looks like the programming is different between the euro-spec and US-spec. Found this:
Perfect! Glad it worked. I'm not the biggest fan of the buttons on the actual key since I like to just take the fob with me when I go for a run and I find that the key blade likes to poke my naughty bits when it's in my pocket.
I'm curious whether the US and Euro spec keys can be cross-programmed without a trip to the stealership.
