Fixing the crank position sensor is where the difference in hp came from. As soon as I replaced it...it was like like holy crap!!!!! It was significant enough to feel a pretty good difference in acceleration. Actually I will never forget what my friend said, "You werent kidding!!!!" I had told him I thought I had gained 20 to 30 rwhp from just that and he laughed...until I ran him again.

I don't remember what the HP difference was but I do remember there was a difference. If I remember correctly it was around 7 hp but I really don't remember so don't quote me on that number.
So it sounds like you didn't actually tune for the 3"MAF tube? Just put it on with the standard MAF tube tune?

Edit: Nevermind - I saw you retuned for it... :-)

wow nice to see your all the way up to 316 rwhp. I would love to drive this car man. I don't think everyone can appreciate what this car must feel like. When are you gonna log some quarter mile times? After that its time to ship her to germany and lap the nurburgring

The OP in that thread gives a figure of around 15k in that thread. Now imagine, taking about that much money, and having a LS2 put in making 400ish N/A whp. I don't know how much Noah spent to be the first person doing this, but the quote I got from Hinson Supercars was actually a little less and thats for the engine and all the labor. I'd rather do that if I had the option. Hell, I'd consider taking out a loan to get that done.

However, I give mad props to all the guys who broke new ground with the vq35 to achieve 300+ hp N/A.

No actually I spent around 11K for parts and tune. It would cost me approximately 15k if I had gone FI and a built motor.

For me it was definitely worth it. I love the feel of NA power and I love to see peoples expressions when they find out I'm all motor. Its awesome!!!!!

15k? He got raped. Do not believe for a second a good NA build would cost a 3rd of that.

Yea a lot of parts on these builds can be left off. A good n/a build with the fat trimmed off can be a relatively affordable endeavor. Assuming of course engine removal/disassembly/assembly can be done by the owner him/herself.

Rednezz, I meant the OP in the thread link provided by the xhooniex in the post above my last one. Not yours. Once again, I salute what you're doing, but Im leaning towards the LSx swap.

Nismology - You are probably right, however not all of us have the savvy to do our own work. My original goal for my Z was the same as Rednezz, I wanted an N/A beast and was willing to work overseas for as long as it took to make it happen. This means I asked quite a few people (this was nearly two years ago however) how to make this happen. I got several estimations between 10-15k, with the greatest variable being labor.

Once again, hats off to ya. I don't think I'll go FI either; as I'd prefer to stay N/A also. If only the gains didn't start tapering off as mentioned earlier.

Sorry I misunderstood. My next project will be an LSX motor as well. I had thought about putting a cammed LS1 in my Z before I started this project. At the time no one had done it and I didn't really have the cash supply to have some one do it for me. Now that it can be done for less money I will definitely go that route when I'm done with this motor.
