Finally got about as far as I can take it without being on the dyno. MAF table needs more fine tuning, but I won't be able to do that until I get on the dyno. For the most part its done. As you can see from the video, there is no check engine light on the gauges.

mw9 is going to take some measurements and take my spare plenum and hack it up to custom make one to adapt all this. It will look something like SG's seen in the attached pic.

Here is the short video:

Good job on this !

Could it be possible for you to list down the wiring setup you had to make for the TB to work ? I'm sure a few other guys would very appreciate it !

I ended up using the wire harness that Surratt makes. I bought one from him. He makes ones for this TB and the 75mm one they are talking about in that other thread.

The intake manifold above is the kinda design I worked on for my my own car and this would roll to the driver's side and would basically be manifold, TB, MAF pipe and filter, the stupid road block is that the oil filler on the driver's side valve cover...

I never persued this any further than sketches, and the worst part is where I work now has a fab shop and I could totally get it made...

If I was to remake the upper plenum, I would cut the flange off and completely remake the top and kinda follow what you posted that SG had done.

No matter what you do, you are fixing a bad bottle neck

Can't wait to see the final product. This thing is going to be able to move so much more into the engine than the stock intake.

Are you building this for a 87mm or 90mm? It would be cool to see if it made a difference on a dyno if going bigger than an 87mm would help, there are 102mm out there "cough cough"

The TB we have is 87mm. It is so much larger than stock. I have seen the 102's. They are insane.

87 is a good size imo. there are VQ's out there with 100mm tb's cable driven, with haltech, and they are not really making the kinda power you would think. bigger is not always better. 87 is pretty huge considering stock is 70.

First off, please excuse my ignorance in tuning and sensor outputs.... but

In regards to the comment earlier in this thread about upgrading the MAF sensor to help with the 4" intake tubing, wouldnt a cheaper alternative to purchasing the GTM maf be to use the maf that was intended for this throttle body?

GM p/n 15865791

It also looks (I could be wrong) like the oem 350z maf
-5 pins
-card style
-flange style

But I could be completely wrong about this being a plausible alternative... just throwing the idea out there

I was able to get the OEM MAF working with this TB so there is no need to buy an aftermarket one.

I ran a custom 3 inch intake on my car with an oem MAF bung wended to it and it worked just fine.

The GTM unit is junk and way over priced, who woulda thought

I want to see this thing scream on the top end. Hoping for lots of torque being held late in the rev range.

Me too.

I have a slight change of plans. Im not going to build my motor over the winter depending on what compression is and oil sample comes back with. I need to pay off my truck and daily driver before I sink a ton into an engine.

So for sure getting long tubes once the plenum is done by mw9. I would like to see what kind of power it makes with that setup then add some street cams and see how much I improve from there. I'm expecting once the cams are added it will really open this thing up. I have some lightweight parts I want to buy along with some SPL bushings. All to be ready for next race season.

That's always a thought. How much they normally go for with given miles on them? I've never even looked.
