Default Slip Light...

So I am new to the forum, have done some searching but wanted a quick response...

I have an '08 NISMO and have recently noticed under high load I have seen the slip light come on and the electronics kick in. This has happend at WOT in like 4th gear so I know the tires were not breaking loose. Does the light come on when the clutch is slipping? I have read the clutch on this car is weak and as a second part, if the clutch is the root cause, what type is a good replacement for the Nismo. Thanks!

This happened to me when I had only replaced my rear tires which were worn down. Turns out the diameter of the new tires was too great of a difference from the front and it kept messing up with traction control. TCS mostly kicked in at 4th and 5th gear when doing sweeping curves on the highway at 70 mph. Kind of scary when it kicks in unexpectedly.

Once I replaced the fronts the problem went away.

What size tires are you running? I'm running 285's in the rear but stock in the front... haven't encountered this issue

You need to look at overall diameter (or circumference, if you prefer) of the tire, which is a function of both width and aspect ratio.

I just simply don't run TCS when it's dry or when I want to have fun. Leave it on if it's raining.

I'm running 265-35-18F / 275-35-18R

With a 285/30 /19 on the rear and stock 245/40/18 fronts, you will have this issue. When I went to a 285/35/19 on the rear it does not happen, the rears are now slightly larger than OEM.

If you have larger than stock diameter front tires it will exaggerate the condition as well. The system is pretty sensitive to the changes, I had the exact same high-speed sweeping corner issue with the slightly smaller rear tires.

Ah Ha! This always happens to me in 4th. I used to believe the car thought it was losing traction or something like that (due to the increased acceleration from the turbos), like the car was confused why it was accelerating so hard in 4th, but tires makes much more sense, thanks.
