That's about right...it is usually 1500 for a weekend event (Car show, prep, etc Friday) here for an SSM or SM car.

To play with the big boys on the national level costs a ton. Seems like most cars had 3 dedicated sets of tires (A6's or RS's) AND a set of wets just for the weekend in T1/2/3. That's not to say that they don't re-use some for practice, but they qualify and race only on stickers (or very very lightly scrubbed tires).

Obviously you can offset that a little by winning, but you are still going to buy a ton of tires if you run a "full" schedule of national/regional events.
What type or amount of rewards are there for winning? I'm just curious. Dont know much about the competitive racing side.

It's amateur racing....so nothing. Contingencies and bragging rights are about the extent of it. Though some of the top guys do have strong sponsorships that heavily offset racing costs.

Does anyone know of any other track days at Infineon between now and 12/20? I couldn't make today's event with HOD because my car is still in the shop, but I want to test out the alignment settings before the end of the year.

The comp school is really a battle against attrition and to a lesser degree (for the more fit people) exhaustion. Bring spares. You are bound to break something along the way (if you bring the T2 car)...might be worth bringing the green car too. Pluck parts off of it as stuff breaks on the other.

That said, you get an absolute ton of track time during the 3 days for the price (at least here on the east coast where the typical track day is 250-300 per day).

any updates on how your RS3s are holding up/looking since you have some more time on them.

I don't think the cage will pass SCCA tech. It's a bit cobbled together, but passes at Lemons.

Our track days (for Thunderhill winter) are typically ~$150.

Novice permit: $110
SCCA national membership: $65
Local membership (SF region): $25
School entry fees: ~$650
Spec rental (if necessary): ~$1500

Sure. I have put 2 more, full, track days (1 day at BW, 1/2 day at Laguna, 1/2 day at Sears) on them and a few autoxs. They are still sticky and feel nearly-new. Tread is still great.
