Norcal Track Days
The only track days that are under 150 here are the SCCA PDX's (Sunday only) at Summit Point. You only get 3 25 min sessions, though. The most expensive track in the area is VIR (Full or Grand Courses). The track is pure sex, but the cheapest track days are about 300 per day, and it is in the middle of bum f__k nowhere.

VIR is actually worth the 300 per day, though. Not to mention you can stay in a top shelf hotel they have right at the track. It's down near the NC border, however, and that is almost 5 hours each way for me. Also, watkins glen is about 7 hours North of me, and worth the extra loot. It too is in the middle of bum f__k nowhere.
There's a bunch more spec Miata's for rent in the latest The Wheel, page 30, $350/day cheapest so far.

Golden Gate Lotus Club trackdays seem to provide the biggest bang for the buck with up to 9 or 10 sessions for 150~200. basically run til you throw up. The afternoon sessions end up being six or seven cars owning the entire track due to attrition.
I want to make it up and run the Grand Prix Circuit at Watkins Glen. Generally speaking most of the people who run there (quickly) have difficulty getting in the car....because you need ***** bigger than a hot air balloon to run that course quickly. The walls are everywhere, and the course is very fast...
Case in point...beginning of the mighty turbo era of F1:

The smaller organizations usually don't check for licenses so it'll probably be fine, but I doubt he could get on the track with places like NASA or SCCA unless he gets an international license, which is actually very easy to get, btw.
