Default To TPS or not to TPS......?

Got a wild hair and bought some new wheels (Volk). Should I:

1) Go the extra expense and remove my stock TPS (provided I can find a shop who can do it) instal on Volk then sell my stock Wheels (Track with Toyo T1-S minus the TPS) and have no spares if I bend a rim?

2) Instal new wheels and Tires minus the TPS (cheaper) and save my stock Track wheels with TPS as an extra set, for the event that I can return the car to stock form when/if I sell it?

Thanks

Option #1. If you forego your TPS', you might grow tired of looking at the yellow warning light that comes on the dash after about 40-45 minutes of running without the TPS receiver getting any signals.

Does anyone know how to reset the TPS in the car itself once the wheels have been removed to be remounted, or is it a requirement to go to the dealer to have it done? Thanks.

If you are using your stock tps sensors in the same location, then the light resets itself

If you take them out of the old wheels and mark which one they came from (LF, RF, LR, RR) then put them on the new wheels in the same location, then there's absolutely nothing that has to be done to keep TPMS working correctly.

You don't need a dealer to do that, any competent tire shop can handle the sensors. They're pretty common on newer cars so finding somebody who can handle them is not really a problem.

Bass, what extra expense is there to swap the TPS to the new wheels? I just ordered a set of Nismos and went to the tire shop who'll be putting on my Eagle F1's, and swapping the TPS is part of the deal. $1160 out the door for F1 Eagle GS-D3 tires (245/275 40-18)including swapping the TPS.

Since you have the Nismo wheels, swapping the TPS is a no brainer. The TPS on your stock wheels are part of the valve stem. So just take out the TPS from the stock rims and put them on the Nismo rims like a regular valve stem. There's no magic to it and they shouldn't charge you an extra buck for it. Well.. they will have to dismount the tires from your stockers to get the TPS out. Just need to make sure they label the TPS (Front Right, Front Left, Rear Right, Rear Left). It's not fun if they're mixed up...

Yes, I will certainly make a point of this to the tech who swaps the tires out for me. I've heard this many times...if done right, you don't even have to recalibrate the TPS.
