Default I need more power scotty...

I figure one of you audio experts would know the answer to this since many of you have ripped apart the interiors of your Z's. can you tell me:

1. whether the Z's power seats use constant power or are only powered when the key is in the "on" position?

2. how much power does each seat require?

3. since my base Z isn't equiped with the wiring and harness (which on the touring model Z's have) for this, is there a power wire can I splice into to get the necessary power (such as the cig lighter)? and if I do need a remote should I just go directly to the fuse box? and which fuse would be best?

thanks.

most car seats have constant power to the seats so that you can adjust them even without the key... when you first get in the car and such...

the Fuse box is very nearby, tap into that and use a fuse..

do you know which fuse I should use and will that be enough power for both the seat motors? can someone with a touring model chime in to say whether the power seats are always on or not?

you need 12v and a ground...read the service manual and just tie into the fuse box to make it look stock

OR run a 8 gauge wire to the battery for your 12v source and fuse that... I would read the service manual for you but I am lazy

thanks, thats what I figured, but I wanted someone that knows about this stuff to confirm. if I go directly to the battery do you think that will be a heavy drain on the battery since its constantly on?

If the motor isnt running no power is flowing

so no. no drain at all.

I tapped the power window wires near the fuse box in the driver's kick panel. Sorry it has been a while so I don't remember the color of the wires but do a search and you should be able to find that info. I have installed my seats in my track over a year ago. The seat position can be adjusted even without turing on the iginition and no power drain problem so far!
