you can buy the new updated map from their website. I have downloaded a "copy" of updated 2009 maps but have yet to try it on my plenio

Tell me how it goes. Did you download from a torrent site? Thanks again for all the help.

It doesn't run off battery, it runs off direct power. I'm not sure if there are traffic updates or not, poi's seem to be fine to me.

I wonder if these 7" units would fit:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26367
http://www.amazon.com/Magellan-RoadM.../dp/B002LITI70

I'm having a hard time finding the said Plenio unit.

wow that dealextreme unit looks great, and it already comes with ocn8 it looks like!

much higher resolution screen too...

only issue I could see with that unit is it looks like the gps antenna is built in, and that might cause an issue with reception. size wise it looks like it would fit.

I don't see the dealextreme one fitting as good cause it has an extra piece on the top bezel.

As nice as that unit looks, read some of the comments/reviews left at the bottom. It looks like it has issues that you probably wouldn't want to deal with. Here are some pros and cons that I gathered from a quick glance.

Pros:
  • The unit should fit (7.28" x 4.72" x 0.83") much like our Plenio (7.5" x 4.9" x 1.5").
  • You'll benefit from the higher resolution.
  • This supposedly has Windows CE so more versatile.
  • It has bluetooth.

Cons:
  • The unit must be turned on physically each time after being turned off (you can get around this with simple soldering, though).
  • It cannot save your location and will reset your time zone to that of Hong Kong.
  • The movies will play just like our Plenio in crappy quality and the sound quality is also said to suck.
  • FM transmitter is just as weak as the Plenio.
  • You probably won't get as good GPS signals since it looks to be integrated.

If you're still looking for a Plenio VX2100, here's one on ebay:

I agree, the more I use it the more I realize how much it sucks. I am used to my garmin, so maybe I am just spoiled. Probably next time I have my dash apart, I am going to take it out

Are you using OCN8 on the plenio or Smart2go?

hey all, i'm looking to get the software needed for the plenio 2100. I'm not a 350z owner myself, but my brother is and I want to get this set up for him as a gift. I don't mind paying for a DVD if needed, but is the software hosted anywhere? If not, I can host it for other members to download if someone can send it to me! Let me know, my email is lavacho AT gmail.com
Thanks
