However, as it does fill up the total capacity in increments, you will want to delete these files every once in a while. It's titled "crash" or something to that effect.
any idea what happens when the card gets full from the crash folder? I think I had about 1 gig of space left on my card, but I have no plans of ever removing it, and hope that when/if the crash folder gets full it doesn't cause any issues...

Default Awsome info from 3hree5ive0ero

that error is no worries, i did just touch the screen and it cleared off. Hopefully that file never gets full.

I didnt find the one cigarette lighter the one guy posted up, this one

http://www.dcpwr.com/shop/index.php?...products_id=22

pep boys and kragan have one but it has a square mounting unit built into it... ill probably get that one and just dremel it off.

my last question before i get to the install. so i tap into the passenger side lighter wire, heres my thinking,,,

1. use the lighter power cable it came with and get the female ciggarette adapter and splice that into the wire? if i do this will i need a fuse?

or

2. cut the ciggarette plug off and just splce the 2 wires together? if i do this will i need an inline fuse? and how do i put the fuse in...

if i get those answers im golden,,,

thanks again for the help guys...

Most likely, you'll get a different error saying that you've reached full capacity for the SD card. As I mentioned before, it's only a txt file so it'll take a long time to reach that point. However, I figured I'd give everybody a heads up just in case somebody does come across a new error. BTW, I think if you delete your crash log, it deletes the parameters you set in your GPS settings. I'm not sure but that's what I think it did back when I was trying to figure things out.

BTW, this is one of the reasons why I wanted to be able to access the SD card. I never found a cheap solution to this, but if I ever come across anything, I'll let you guys know in this thread.

1. This is possible, but you're just doing extra work. You'd have to buy that female adapter, tap the existing cig jack for power, then connect the GPS power wire/cig plug into the new female adapter. You shouldn't need any additional fuses, since the cig jack should already have a fuse (OEM) and since the cig plug also has a fuse.
2. You can cut the cig plug off and physically hardwire/tap for power/ground. I'd think you'd be ok without an inline fuse, as long as you know the wire you're tapping for power already has a fuse (cig jack should have one). However, it wouldn't hurt to spend a couple of bucks on another fuse and an inline fuse holder combo. This also saves precious space behind the center console/dash.

I recommend going with what I posted in #2 and use these so you don't have to strip/cut/crimp/etc:
http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...=&aqi=&start=0 (quick splice)
http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...ed=0CCwQsAQwBg (inline fuse)

Burner I thought you had that garmin navi
I have tested it on a road trip from Austin to Dallas. Works really good. I did have the Garmin setup, but got bored with it and decided to give this a try. Each system has its pros and cons, but overall I think I like the OCN8 software better, mostly because of the GUI.

You have to remove the center console (with the 3 gauge pod) then remove the panel that is to the left of it, behind the tach/speedo. It is attached to the vent, it can be a b!tch to get off. Just route the wire through the crevices in the dash. I will take some pics either tonight or tomorrow and post them, if I have time.

The system only writes the .txt file (which is only a few kb) if you exit the nav program. If you shut your car off (assuming thats how its hooked up) with the nav still on, it will be fine, and will not write the file to the card. Theoretically, if you manually turned it off and it wrote the file on there, and you have 1GB free, it would take approx. 250,000 cycles (assuming 4kb per) to fill the card up. I'm pretty sure your starter on your car would go out first!

Saw this and had to comment....Do not rely on the fuse that is built in for the cig adapter. It is a 15A (I believe) and will fry the Plenio before it fries the fuse. I have a 3A fuse hooked up to mine (you want to use the lowest amp fuse you can just as a precautionary measure). If you do hook it up to the cig adapter, just throw an inline fuse rated no higher than 5A and you should be good.

I stand corrected - I forgot that the ratings were different between the two (cig jack fuse and the gps module's fuse). Thanks for catching that.

With that said, I still recommend going with method #2 in my previous post (just with the correct fuse).

Burner you ever get that picture? I'm going to relocate mines off my dash as soon as I see a picture of the location.

hey guys..

i bought the plenio awhile back and it worked fine using the software that came with it.. i thought, if i keep it simple that i won't run into any issues. which worked fine for awhile...

so tonight, i tried to powering making sure it works right.. i will be going tomorrow for my H1N1 shot and planned on using the plenio for directions.. it wouldn't grab the damn gps signal! i thought if i let it sit awhile that it would catch.. it didn't.

so can someone post a the link for the software that you guys are running on this thread. it won't get rid of the other features that the plenio came with right? like movies/photos/etc.

thanks in advance

There is no link where you can just simply download the required software from. I have been shipping customized DVDs out to those who needed it and I believe o2sys has been as well.

I'm sure the major things are identical. A couple of screws may be slightly different but it at least gives you an idea.

I know there are differences with the dimensions of certain parts but the process of taking off major components (plastic pieces) should be the same. Even if everything is different, the idea behind it all should be the same. You still have to take off the shifter console first, then you take the necessary screws out to get the center console out. You still undo the same connections (different connectors) to get to the navigation cubby.

That's what I was saying. I tried to quickly search for the 06+ interior gutting, but didn't really see anything on the first page of my search. Hopefully, the guy(s) who installed this in his 06+ Z can help you out. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
