RevUp Oil Consumption TSB and discussion

I would like to see what the new Z looks like, besides guessing spy shots, although I am a little pissed with Nissan right now.

guys, i have 06 rev-up MT, dealer changed oil. and it's been 2000 miles since they've done it.
the dipstick level is only 1/7th lower from H. so should I assume it should be alright?

For 1501-2000 miles, 11 mm below H is the least that is unacceptable. For 2001-2500 miles, 14 mm below H is the least that is unacceptable. H-L is 24 mm, so we are talking approx halfway between H and L is where it becomes hairy. If I understand you correctly, 1/7 below H is quite good and it appears your motor is OK so far.
Keep your eye on it and good luck.

There are many theories floating around about the cause of the OC. I am no longer buying the "faulty ring" theory. If that was the case it would have been fixed by now. I think Nissan pushed the engine too far and reached the limit of it's capabilities at 300 HP. I think I read somewhere, another theory, that the pistons in the rev up were causing excessive heat at the top of the stroke and that expansion was occuring causing blowby. Anyone heard anything definitive, or is it still a mystery?

They are pretty tight lipped about it. Just a side note, they are having the same problems in Japan as well, so, it is not just here in the States…..

Class Action link has been on first page for awhile:
http://nissan350zoilconsumption.com/...isclaimer.html
In fact, that link is dead. Here's the one that works now:
http://nissan350zoilconsumption.com/
They need to include 2005's as well imo.

I took my car in for the oil change yesterday. They documented it was using oil and started another oil consumption test, sealing the plug and cap. The dealership has been very good to me in the first engine replacement, fighting to get me a V2. The head mechanic told me the regional rep was recently there, and they discussed the '06 consumption issue. He said the rep stated it was a valve cover issue. I am stating this from memory and I'm no mechanic, but I believe the way he worded it was oil is getting past the valve cover and into the intake and being sucked out the PVC. He agreed it isn't a ring issue. We will see what happens if I use more than the TSB states and how NNA responds to their claim. I am not sure I want another engine, unless it is different than the existing V2 and the cause has been addressed and fixed. Time will tell.

I would like to talk to someone private about their dealings with dealership or nissan directly about warranty of the car..
Did you always get your service done at the dealership, or if you did the work yourself or at a local shop did you have to provide receipts for all of that before an engine swap, or any kind of "remedy" fix..?

Matters on the dealership. Mine was cool. Glad to see people not taking any crap from Nissan. Feel free to PM me on s2ki.com under the same username if you have any questions.
ZeeForce still has permission to access the first post. If anyone else wants to add something send me a PM.

Update: Took my car back for the second 1000 mile test on monday. Well it fails, service writer calls me up and says your new motor is on its way. He said do I have a ride home, I told him no and can I just drive it til the new motor comes in? He was like the new motor will be here in the morning so we will just put you in a rental car. First thing im thinking is that the motor was already ordered since this was my second test. There is no way they are going to overnight a motor from the factory in illinois to california. I get a call today saying to come pick up the car tomorrow and it will be done. So we will see. Sorry for being so long winded, just kind of excited and nervous
that's strange, I live in Illinois and my engine came from Tennesse. Took about 3 days. Service manager told me expect the job to take about 4 days. They weren't even sure if they could get Nissan to pay for my rental.
I know, pretty nervous of what kind of hack job they might be doing. On my old work order it said ordered new motor, but then they came back and said nissan wants to do a second test. Im figuring they shipped it out then. Service writer said that this is the mechanics 3rd or 4th swap. Lets hope he is not lying. So we will see tomorrow.
Got my car back from the dealership V2 is in. The dumb bastards scratched the hell out of the front lip. 2nd the AC smells like the worst BO that you have smelt. Will call them first thing in the morning. I doubt they will cop up to scratching the front lip but i will see what i can do. When everybody has gotten their V2, did nissan offer a extended warranty or are you stuck on the original?

Your AC smell is probably mildew from them running the car in one place with the AC on after they put the engine in. I know my dealership ran my v2 for about three hours after they put in the v2.
Well I dont think thats going to happen from them. They say that I did those scratches on the front end. They even documented that they seem some ones on the very side which I said yes they were there, but the middle one was not. I dont know why all theses dealerships are so shady. Its ridiculous. Only bad thing is that, they still have parts on order for some other problems. So I have to go back. I have a call into the Nissan Rep, but he will just go by what they say.
