Stopped by after work and picked it up along with some barbs (3/8" and a 1/4" in case i'm going to run a smaller hose to my Vortech filter). It was $10 in the store, so it might pay off to get the better quality one from Lowes. The entire thing is plastic (although thick, heavy plastic) unlike the metal one at Lowes.

Yep, I should have mentioned that it was plastic. Its $4.99 on their internet store, and I was ordering a bunch of stuff anyway.

It being plastic should not matter, as its meant to withstand compressor pressures which are much higher then it will ever see as a catch can. As long as you are more careful with the threading.

Finally got the pics off the camera from my install on a 2004.5 VQ. I put some double sided tape on the power steering fluid holder as a pad, left the non-stick backing on, then zip tied the catch can to it. So far no issues after about 1000 miles. Only downside, is you have to cut the zip ties to empty the container. I'll replace with some velcro once I find the big roll of it I got in my garage somewhere.

If you have an HR, I have them marked clearly the pics on the previous page. I was confused at first, so I made sure to take pics and circle the tubes. GL.

Update, the oil catch can has been working great for my HR. Looks like I have to empty it everyone month or so depending on how much and how hard I drive it. Great cheap mod for HR owners. This should hold me off until I see a after market one I want.

yeah I got it done today, I fabricated a bracket to hold it in place, I'll snap a few shots. I also used clear tubing so I could see inside it.

i have clear tubes too. it is starting to look like oil is getting trapped where the tube from the pcv ends and the valve going into the can begins. anyone else having this problem?

Heres two I made. Small one, and also a larger metal one because I realized I had an extra air/water filter in the garage.

Nice looking, maybe you should mass market them, lol. I bought an ebay one. It is black and looks pretty nice. I just need to put it on when i have time.

Anyone got instructions on how to install an ebay one, i have an idea, but I just don't want to mess up, lol. Better safe than sorry, better to look like a moron on a forum then on the side of a street with a broken car, imo.

I was told by a veteran member here on my350z to install a catch can due to my engine's pinging problem.

I use 94+ octane and it still pings (04.5 with 30k miles).

Should I ?

just wondering guys , when u guys start up your car does the line "crush in" because of the vaccuum suction from the plenum?

That should never happen. It will only happen if there's a blockage in the catch can somewhere that's not allowing air to flow, or the PCV valve would be completely stuck shut for some reason.

The hose I'm using is way too strong to crush in.

But there shouldn't be any blockage that should cause that.

Hmm...it's not going to hurt anything, but I would find some hoses to replace those.

Stupid Question: Will this stop my engine from pinging between 2 - 3k r's on tip in? That would be sick cause it's been doing that for quite some time and it makes me want to hang myself. Thanks.

Was bored today... Fabbed up a bracket and switched to stainless hose with anodized fittings. I've been running this catchcan with stainless mesh for about a year. Totally happy with it. I cracked open my plenum last weekend just to see how well this catchcan has worked over the last year, and it was spotless. :-)
