The Official LS Swap Info/Questions Thread
Yeah I'm switching jobs as of the first of the year so vie been busy. Swing by tonight if you want.
So if i'm reading all this correctly is basically that regarding cost w/ ls1 prob round 8-10k done right, and 10-14k or so w/ a ls2. Both require the use of a gto t56 to match up location wise. We're still pending a pnp fix for retaining the stock tach unless using hinson electronics, no solid easy button for retaining stock ac function. Long story short the mechanical side of things is basically sorted w/ any of the kits available. The pain in the *** as is normal is stemming from wiring issues for the most part.

You can use a f-body transmission you just need to get the GTO shifter lever which is the little machined part the shifter actually rest in, they are around 100$ and can be switched out in 10 min. If you use the F-body one you will only have 1,3,5, and Reverse lol.
The company i work for is finishing up the testing on the tach and you can for sure make the stock tach work with a dakota digital unit.
There are no pain in the *** wiring issues if you use the correct harness. There are a couple of companies and individual wiring guys that offer swap harnesses that can make your harness plug and play and still have AC. AC is only two wires for the compressor. The problem people are having is they dont know where to get lines for. I had a company use GM lines for the compressor and clip style plugs for the factory condensor, it was just two lines 175$. It also depends on which motor and accessory drive you go with as to how long your AC lines would be. I have to get new lines because im moving the AC compressor up top and using a strata compressor to get clearance for a single turbo setup.
Happy New Year!!!
Getting more and more used to the car every week. Swapping the stock clutch fluid for some MOTUL has done wonders for the pedal and pressure. It now takes hard shifts... smiles and asks for more.

DO you guys hack up the VQ harness when doing this install? If so, I am looking for a drivers side VVT solenoid connector with a a couple inches of pigtail attached. You'll never need it with the LS swap.
I need to rewire that cam phaser solenoid from the ECU and want to use a different connector since mine was buggered a while back.
Thanks!
