lol... anyways, is it just me or are people hearing about 2 instances now of stuck-open injectors due to an STS install...? One engine-destroying and the other... not?

stuck injector
aarantes and goosegoose, I look forward to your reply on my PM.
My kit was installed but car ran extremely rich. Exhaust smelled like raw gas and had white gas vapor coming out of tail pipe, have a video. If you struck a match the car would become a flame thrower. We first thought problem was a defective injector due to wet sparkplug on #2 cylinder. Swapped injector to another cylinder and #2 still flooding out. So problem was the UTEC. Process of elimination.
I'm curious to know how many STS users had problems with poorly programmed or totally defective UTECs. aarantes, I'll bet your problem was a defective UTEC also.

I once had a problem but mine suddenly became lean in the middle of a cruise that I attended last week. I came at the meet around 11am and I was running fine. I had my Laptop plugged in and was doing some logging the entire cruise but after 3 hrs of driving, I start to hear my Laptop buzz (UTI does give sound when Knock is detected) and my A/F was around high 12's to mid 13's. It doesn't matter what I do with the Temp Correction coz my A/F was the same. I thought my Inj failed on me so I just went back home and unplugged the battery and let it cool down for around 5hrs. Guess what!!! The chit all went back to normal!!! It wasn't even that hot that day coz it was only high 70's.

I'm not a computer type person but is'nt the base map a computer program? Could be a glitch in the base program causing UTEC problems. I had first UTEC swapped. Second unit went rich within 6 days,100 miles. Second UTEC needed professional programmer/tuner attention to get to operate correctly. I now have about 700 miles on the repaired/tuned/programmed second unit. Keeping my fingers crossed as to NO more computer problems.

If you were fine the first few days then the map was not the culprit but I could be wrong. I'm no a Utec expert but based on looking at the Maps, all i can see is Pulse Width #'s on the Fuel Map and not specific on which injector.

Ramairz I will pm you as soon as I work out everything and get it all figured out.
But I do think its strange that we both had utecs that caused injectors to be stuck open... I thought it was just my unit and that I had a freak accident but this makes me wonder. All I can do is wait for the tests to be done.

The installer did just that, installed what came with the kit. I would only place blame on installer if they broke a part. Defective parts are not their fault.
