all that for a stupid plug?

So update, they told me they didn't touch the coolant plug in the head when they rebuilt it and I've never touched it either so they are going to talk with the owner.
Blue, there was water they just missed it on the first test. Their was also fuel but I beilve that's from it not starting and just dumping fuel in the cylinders. I wish I could get a picture but I'm currently 1000 miles away for another two weeks.

Damn man. Well I'll give you my encouragement in this comment. Cars are really hard on us enthusiasts at times. It's a love/hate relationship with our builds. We're happy when things work out well on our cars, then get nervous that something will break when it performs too well, break stuff, replace parts, say every cuss word in every language finding electrical gremlins. But we do it out of our passion for our build. There's is something special about us guys (and gals) who craft and build what they invision, and make it come to life. But sometimes it's a difficult, long and hard journey. You know this all too well.
If it's your passion to see it thru and finish what you started, remembering why you started, then keep driving on. I just feel bad that Murphys law really is pounding your plans for your G down into the dirt.
When it's all said and done, and you finally finish, you will be very satisfied and happy you never quit. Just giving my .02. S%$& sucks, I get it.

There have been many times I wish/should have just burnt the car to the ground. Unfortunately this car has a special place in my heart and wallet so it will be with me until I die or it explodes.
Just waiting to get the word back from the shop to see how to proceed.

I feel the same way about my car...there was a time when it didn't move for 6 or 8 months and I couldn't find the overheating issues and a few buddys thought I was crazy ... the journey is the reward

So the one with the allen key is the one that was leaking. They said the engine will be ready to be picked up later today at no cost to me. I'm trying to see if a new headgasket was used. I hope so since I don't think they are reusable. Also asked if I should worry about my rings and bearings so well see what happens.

The shop is Emerald Coast Motorsports. They have a good track record from.what I've seen and heard. I'm not 100% how the found it but I will be testing it again when I get home. I know they have pressurized the system and looked for the leak that way. I don't know how you isolate it in the head though.

I called and talked with Cometic they said I don't have to replace the headgasket if the engine hasn't been heat cycled. Since mine has been heat cycled they reccomend I replace it because the embossing may not stand back up. It's not mandatory some people have done it with no problems and others have not been so lucky.

Well figured i would lighten up this thread a little bit.
Tomorrow i'm going to try to beat my G's fastest time down the strip in a 2017 Nissan Quest. I doubt i'm able to do it but i've got another week close to a 1/4 mile strip.
Stock G was:
2.0845 60 FT
5.9967 330 FT
9.2167 1/8 ET
76.35 1/8 MPH
11.957 1000' ET
--------- 1000' MPH
14.2831 1/4 ET
98.02 1/4 MPH
Well see how a Quest does with a VQ35DE in it as well.

So i got the engine back to day!
I only worked on it for a little bit since i have a 4 day weekend YAY Military, and plan on putting it in this Friday.
So i talked to the shop and they told me how they figured out what was leaking. They fabbed up some coolant plugs so they could pressurize the block. When they pressurized the system with out the valve covers on they could see the coolant flowing out of the coolant plugs in the head and down a oil passage through the block.
Once the engine is in i'll do two oil flushes then ill fill it and start driving it around. I'm think i'm just going to pay to get it tuned, I'm tired of messing with it and just want to drive it again.

Well i had a co-worker help me install the engine. It took six and a half hours from start to engine start. I still need to put the radiator in and fill it, put the front clip on, reattach my exhaust, and clean up the rats nest of wires inside of my car. One more oil flush and i think should be good as long as the oil comes back clean.
So the best part of the day was that the car fired right up with the OEM computer and the Haltech so thats a good sign.
Now to get the car moving and out of the garage so i can get it tuned.
Hopefully tomorrow ill have a video of it running out side the garage.
