Sounds like a sensible option to investigate. I'm still about 1K miles away from increasing boost and dyno, so that gives me some time to check into it. Good bump and a helpful suggestion...thanks.

Talked to SGP. THey want $3400 (including shipping) and they only change the cutch packs (installed ones made by Raybestos - don't know which material) and the valve body. TC is extra $595.
THIS IS ALL THAT IS DONE. They claim it will handle 800hp.

Sounds too steep if you ask me, unless the clutch pack job is worth $2800. Also not sure about the claim - how do they know it will handle that much. They said that they have it on their 5AT Z that is putting down 550 at the wheels, so far no problems. I said well did you ever take it to the track? No, they say. So how do they know if it's holding the power?

A valvebody is not a shift kit. A valvebody is the same thing you have on your car except they modify it to let more tranny fluid flow through the valvebody increasing the crispness and response of the the tranny shifting. This can not be done electronically, it is purely a mecanical thing.

SGP should not be saying it can handle hp. HP is not what breaks a tranny it is torque.

For $3400 they better change more than the clutches in the auto.

Yeah, but that IS all they changed and I am pretty sure they used the term hp interchangeably with tq. I do know what you are talking about. However, an electronic modification CAN achieve part of what a VB mod can (certainly not the same); TCM varies the line pressure going to the VB and the clutch packs depending on the output of the torque sensor. It outputs a higher LP as engine torque output increases (WOT) - there is a graph/description of this in the FSM. This could be modified to increase to a higher value... It is just not as simple ason the old maximas where the line pressure solenoid had an external resistor. It seems as though this car does not and is varied by the TCM.

The reason they know it can handle this hp and tq is because they do the same thing for auto 300Z and they have a couple of them in mags running around 800+hp and some high torque numbers. The reason I will look in to it is because by friend has it for his old Z and loves it. It shifts so smooth and easy. Slides like butter through gears at the track. No slippage at all and he's running around 650+ to the wheels and running some good numbers at the track. Also they told me it was a brand new tranny and I think it comes with more then just that. Whatever it comes with, if it can hold the hp and tq, who cares whats in it. The best option for the tranny. Its almost $600 just for a torque converter. Then a shift kit will cost you a good penny to get and install. There is probably the install of the parts in there price.

Good to know. So you are saying the modded AT is smoother than the old one? Great. I love the AT's consistency. Well, you can spend 700 on a VB mod and however much the clutchpacks would run. I would love to see an aftermarket company come out with a Kevlar cluch pack kit for this tranny.

I know Level Ten sells Kevlar Clutch Packs kits. I know alot of people who probably hate them on this forum, but I have had no problem with them in the past when I had my auto civic. The tranny they sold me was the best mod ever. My originial tranny kept slipping real bad, but the Level Ten was smooth and never slipped once. I knocked a big chuck off my 1/4 time. I would race people that had roush mustangs and some other high priced cars and they would look right at my tranny and start joking on me and calling me a girl for driving a auto civic, that was until I spanked them good. I think I might of been the fastest auto civic I had seen ever come to the track. Don't hear about too many fast auto civics. Seems like people stick to manuals when it comes to them. I know alot of auto Supra's, RX-7's, 300Z's, and some other big names. Maybe I should of contacted some mag and tryed to get it on a cover, I probably was the fastest auto civic out there with a 1/4 time of 12.3.

Well to save you guys a ton of time go to v6performance.net and they have a tranny shop that can build you guys something. Don't even waste your time with level 10 becuase there was a few guys that did this for there v6 accords and they are junk. This new place which is call dr evil transmissions out of california could build you a fully built auto.. The one for the v6 can handle 450 rwhp and I am sure a z could be built for much higher, Since this is my first post I am here to research the 350 becuase i like what can be done to them and I know what I am talking about when it comes to the auto tranny because my accord blows since this is all they come with. Nice site by the way and very friendly oriented!

Gurgen, don't bother.

I spoke with Sam 3 times trying to get him to sell me just the clutchpacks. They wouldn't sell anything. Only tranny job for $3600+core. Moreover, they don't care if I already have TC from Edge and VB from Stillen - same price.

That's the thing, Level10 still wants to charge me the full price even if I already have those components,

All I need is clutchpacks, or ovehaul kit. Preferably stronger than OEM.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

I talked to Sam at Level 10 today, I he said that they have friction plates and steel (separator) plates for our tranny now (stronger that the OEM). The only problem is that I do not know if I should thrust there work with the reviews thaty they are getting lately.
