5AT (automatic transmission) Owners With Forced Induction Please Read
Not sure. It is a Stillen, maybe that is the problem. It is hard to bracket race when you hit the rev limiter with each shift. Shifts slow up and down. It was instant before the Vortech.
No new info on this problem?
How come its hitting the limiter though? was your TCM modified to increase the shift points?
Is it because your tires are spinning making for sudden quick rev's? Iv had a turbo car for a while now and the reason i hit the limiter is because for example in 1st gear, boost comes in quick and tires break loose so it bounces once or twice off the limiter before it shifts, I have adjusted my shift points to be near my limiter which is 6500, which is why it easily touches the limiter.
Well, from what I just read, it's adding the VB and raising the Rev limiter to 7200 rpms. I think that really sounds about right. I can raise the limiter with a retune, correct? If so, I'm gonna upgrade my injectors, buy an upgraded valve body and get a retune. I just know that Driving WOT in Auto is scary as hell. Sounds like the **** is f'd up. It's also very hard to shift in Manual mode, because acceleration is so quick from 1-2 gear. It's like I gotta shift at 2500 rpms just to get it to shift b4 redline. WOWeeee

I dont think just getting a retune your going to change your shift points on auto. The auto is controlled by the TCM, not the ECU, and I dont know much about the Z community but not alot of companies reprogram TCM's, at least with 5sp. On my 4sp, since it has two solenoids, I use a device called SupraStick, which is design for automatic 4sp supra's but can be used with any two solenoid (4sp) auto. I can control at what rpm to shift at in auto. I dont think they have made one for 5sp auto's since it requires another solenoid, but something to read into for you guys.
Mine is not all that slow, it is just inconsistent and it will be at least .04sec faster if it shifts the way it did before the vortech.

There are a lot of people that don't think raising the rev limit is a good idea.
I have a 3.55 ear end, so I would still have to shift short.
And I would still have a tranny that didn't shift fast enough.

Perhaps the problem is that the added power causes for slower shift (more slip), I am not exacly as far as Z's go, but on auto maximas we do this little mod that we disconnect (while at WOT via a WOT switch), the drop resistor (which controls the fluid pressure in the tranny), by disconnecting it, it provides 100% line pressure therefore almost no slip and almost instant shifts are obtained. Iv had this done for many years as well as others that have been putting alot more power (compared to stock) through the tranny. Like i said, I dont konw if its something you guys would be able to do, just giving an idea.
