Yeah, I would like there hear the long term results. I would bet when using "Stock Set of Tires and Wheels" that it would get about 28k-30k miles on a set of tires.

>> Got my NNA letter yesterday.....
My first response to getting the NNA letter was well they are admitting a problem but all they are doing is extending the warranty to 36 months and not really fixing the problem. We will still end up with a "Piece of Sh.t" car that has no resale value. I have had three sets of tires so far and will go back for another set since I got the letter.
Even after multiple re-alignments I still can not get more than 10k miles out of a set of tires before they are feathered inside and out ( because of rotation at 5k ).

OK, I've been layin lo lately and have two of the "special tires" on the front of the car at this time. I've gone thru 2 cars, 60K+ miles, about seven sets of front tires, and I don't think Nissan is gonna get it. Earlier, I hypothetically proposed that if I could get to 100K with nissan participating in the routine tire replacement costs, I would be less concerned, but this latest piece of bull crap has really pissed me off. I hope the posters ahead of me are correct in their assessment of Nissan's "admission statements" and by 100,000 miles nissan will finally get around to addressing the issue and agree to fix it. This 36K warrantee extension gesture is a Joke, WHY THAT'S THE TIRE WARRANTEE! ...The car is defective, not the tires! My car already had a 36K mi warrantee. This is no extension...It's twisting in the highest form. ...WE ARE DRIVEN!!!??? Why, I'm gonna drive my car and Keep it beyond 100K or 'til they finally come arround. I recently heard that the suspension has been changed on the newest models. When the facts are revealed, over time, I believe a remedy will come. I hope someday, a "good attorney" (an old oxi moron) will get hold of this and do the penal thing. And then, after that, also gets down to suspension replacements for all the units that were sold before anyone knew; and all the units that were sold after they knew; and all the units that were sold before they figured out how to change it without admitting a flaw, OR every last unit that was ever built if they continue to thumb their corporate nose by not addressing the issue properly when they were first informed; etc. and so on. Nissan is continuing to ignore the facts; continuing to give half-*** responses; continuing to pass the buck; continuing to give "sugar coated" lip service; all in an effort to escape responsibility. Whenever Nissan is ready to step up to the plate, ...I'll still be standing by!

I have not posted any updates to this string in a LONG time! I have been too upset and just plain tired of deal with Nissan's BS!
I have had many problems with my 350Z since I first came to this site!
I have now had my car since August of 2002. I now have almost 40k on my car and just received my letter from NNA about the tire warranty extension.
What BS! They still have NEVER addressed the REAL issue with our cars. It is NOT a tire issue! It is a suspension problem. The car was not setup and/or designed correctly.
Nissan has spent 3 years blowing smoke up our butts on how it is a driver/tire issue and NEVER taking responsibility for a design flaw.
Getting an extension on the tire warranty is yet another Band-aid solution. It will not fix the problem it only continues to prolong our issues. The new tire design only hides the feathering, so we owners can not complain about it.
And so they can deny giving us any more tires in the future.
I am on my 3rd set of tires and I still have the tire roar/tire feathering issue! I am currently running on Michelin Pilot Sports and they are now feathered yet again. And even though the dealer is the one who put the Pilot Sports on my car, I am sure that NNA is going to make me pay or try to make me pay to have them removed and the New Potenzas put back on my car.
Nissan has been the biggest disappointment and my faith in their brand and quality has been liquidated. I would recommend to ALL not to buy a Nissan product.
It is sad to say but the legacy of the Z has been ruined by the "Bean Counters" at NNA in order to save their profit margins. I believe sales of the 350Z will continue to diminish because of word-of-mouth by owners like us who have been disappointed.

Thats why I am now sporting an S2000, and I suggest you consider the same move... (doesnt have to be an S2k).

"Kudos to Nissan for admitting a mistake that didn’t even necessitate a recall and fixing it." - John Neff AutoBlog
Are you suggesting this is a fix?
You are an ignorant FOOL if you believe the Extended Warranty is a fix!
This is just another Band-Aid solution to avoid facing the real problem. I have owned a 2003 350Z since Aug. '02 and it has had tire feathering since 6000 miles. (I now have 40,000) It has been in for tire/alignment service 7 times. I am now on my third set of tires. Currently running on Michelin Pilot Sports. Every set of tires have had cupping/feathering wear on them.
Nissan has changed the alignment specs. 7 times. Nissan continues to tell me and thousands of other 350Z owners that it was a "toe angle" or "driver use" issue. Until last year that is. The 2005 Z has an updated front control arm and an updated hub. The shapes are slightly different. And so far, 2005 owners have reported no issues.
So NNA has been lying to us all along. It IS and has ALWAYS been a SUSPENSION ISSUE!!!!
And to make matters worse, Nissan may have found found the solution but, won't issue a recall and retro fit 2003 & 2004 Z owners with the new control arms? Could it be cost? Could it be liability? Whatever the reason, an Extended Warranty for tires/alignment is NOT the solution! WAKE UP Jeff! Don't be such a "Kiss-***" Have more integrity. Please! Are you being paid by Nissan to spread this BS?

OK Your close on the new parts. I spent some time this morning talking to my Nissan parts manager. A good guy. The 05 hubs are innerchangeable. It's the spindle and the arms that are different. The parts numbers change in 08/04 for the 2005 model for bith the spindle and the arms. And the 2006 of course.
So Nissan changed the suspension!!!
We need 05 owners to post about any problems with feathering and current mileage. Also remember they changed the tire in 05. Nissan gave me a set but I pulled them off in favor of Goodyear f1 gs-d3s. Witht he new tire it might take a little longer to show up on an 05. Has anybody feathered the new tire design?
So 05 owners...lets hear from you?

He just said the arms were different. As an FYI...I have talked to in the past and have the name and number of a Nissan executive in the corporate office in CA. It was he who approved my last set of tires and alignment. He called me after recieving an email from me to Nissans survey company forwarded to them. He said call him back any time. If we can get the stories straight, get some posts from 05 owners, owners with the new tires, etc. I am going to fax him a letter, and the survey executive, about what we know to be true. Maybe if we can get past the marketing and spin guys they will listen. At least they will have no excuse anyway.
Probably can't get to it until Monday but I will see what I can find out. ANybody else want to step in here and help out...that's cool. But I must stress accuracy of the the information. Seeing is believing!
Just got my second set of FREE front tires at 37K... After all of the hoops they made me jump thru... I am very disappointed with Nissan and the Z....
Hopefully my next track day will make up all the disappointment!
This is the life of owning a sprots car....HA!

I have to believe that NNA would have better sales of the 350Z if they had better quality & "stood behind" their flagship car; "...the Z is heart & soul of the Nissan brand." (Gohsen 2002)

I sold my 03 Z in Feb. It had the S-tune suspension and G35 rims and tires, which made a slight comfort difference. It was on the second set of tires, the seat creaked, there was something lose in the rear, the axle bolts had been fixed/tightened, there were streaks on the windows, and the radio still sounded muddy.
I just bought an 05 MT6 G35 Coupe because I missed the feeling the Z gave me when I drove it. The G35 Coupe rides much better, has all the handling (on the road) and power, and has a few more features. You can tell that the G35 Coupe is not designed to be a luxury car in Japan (Skyline) because of the basic design components, but it is a nicer car to drive. My friends describe it as 'less edgy/sporty (the VDC is more restrictive), but definitely a nicer car to be in."
I sold the Z because I had had enough with the quality issues. I don't know if the G will be any better, but it seems to be a more 'complete' vehicle. Still don't like the stereo much. I just wish it looked like the Z... and I got my letter about the extended Z tire warranty this week.
Lastly, in theme with recent posting, a friend from Europe visiting this week was telling me today that the Z has developed a bad name in over there. Seems that Nissan Japan needs to pull their act together with regards to this car. Changing the wheels & tires and making styling changes that no one notices won't fix the basic problems.
