I just bought an 06, and this is my first post. It seems that Nissan really cheaped out on the interior. The scratches are the first thing I'd like to get out of the way, before doing anything else to the car.

So there is nobody out there making CF replacements?

Here is a pic of my cheap interior. Gonna have to go with some carbon fiber overlays to cover this monstrosity.

I have an '06. I bought it used, and the owner before me had the same problem ... I guess it's my problem now, too. However, mine isn't that bad... it's just in the same spots - driver's door handle and cubby hole cover button.

I have an 06 as well and i bought it with 8K miles. My drivers door looked like everyone elses when i bought it and also on the right silver piece it looks like it was fading like on the original post.

At first i imagined the people before me wore watches or bracelets and just scratched the crap out of it, but after seeing this thread, i don't think thats the case.

Is there anyway to fix this issue besides a new panel or is an overlay the best solution?!?

I have that issue and for the most part i did my own (with the help/teachings of a friend) carbon fiber permanent overlays..no 3M tape on junk that has horrible fitment......

i did cf door switchs, steering wheel covers and rear strut covers......also did my exterior B-pillars...

for some of the interior hatch rear strut bar plastics - im just replacing with clean unscratched pieces i found on wrecked Z (junk yard ftw).

as for the shift ****, i hate those metal parts....they get hot as heck here in TX and burn the crap-0-la out of you anyways.....they get all worn out because of the oils on our hands i guess...

I just bought the home depot toilet bowl (ballcock washer mod) and Carbon fiber wrapped it for a cooler look..lol...then i bought an all rubber shift **** that i absolutely love - (everyone flamed me for in my thread) LOL, but its all good... i wont change it for anything...

I have an '06 with the same issue on the driver door handle and the cubby latch. The scratches were there when I bought the car at 12k miles. I tried painting the driver-side door handle and discovered something interesting about the Nissan finish. It is not paint, but some type of heat-shrink film. The white that you see when it is scratched is actually the base layer of the film. With a little work, you can peel the film off and the actual plastic of the part is black. Don't try to paint the part without peeling off this film... The paint will not stick well. I currently have the handle in the car in "bare plastic" form and it looks ok, but I am investigating soft-touch paints to try and find a matching finish.

While I understand people thinking that CiscoCerna is abusing his car, it seems to me that this is a problem with a certain batch of the ruberized finished interiors of the 06.

Will post pictures if anyones interested.

It's started happening with my '05.
