Not fizzled out. I know, there have been no updates. Just hasn't been a priority. I just bought a set of PPE long tubes which I wanted to put on before this TB. I have a spare engine now, too. I am going to pull my current weakened motor, but before I do, I want to put the long tubes on and test the new intake. I am going to buy a welder and fab up something just like the SG guys did with the OEM plenum. Looks like its time to learn how to weld aluminum.

I have three OEM plenums to hack up so I can have some practice.

Probably looking to get a welder in November or December.

I need this working on my car before next race season so now its on the forefront of my mind.

Thanks for responding so promptly. I haven't been following for the entire journey along this thread. But after selling some old parts (including the upper plenum) I thought about this thread and figured I couldn't have been the only one wondering. Anyways keep up the good work!

Thanks Classy! I love your sig btw. I want to be able to create myself. I am not much of a welder, but I want to learn for more reasons than this plenum. I've fabbed up so many things on my car along the way. Being able to weld would've made that journey a lot easier. I also want to be able to reproduce this plenum myself if need be.

I hear you, I made some plenum designs myself, and I figured you were going for a more simplistic route

Has anyone seen this?

It's a video of what I what looks like to be a large TB rigged up to run on a 350z. In one of the comments it translated to saying that he got it to run but it didn't make any power (but then again look at his setup) He seems to be polish. Does anyone by chance speak Polish.. Maybe he got his to properly work?

i think alot of the not making power on that setup would be his intake manifold. im no expert but id say that is why. id also go as far to say an over sized intake (his tb is super far down) would benefit aswell after a different intake. then you get to looking at things like air velocity and the power band youre making power in. but at that point you start getting into camshaft profiles to change it, then compression and displacement start playing in that!

but my .02$ is you need the full intake, tb, and intake mani. then you need the whole exhaust setup to take advantage of that. maybe with the right setup around 290-300whp for a de is attainable with semi boltons. do i see a 90mm tb making tons of power on its own? no, but if you have a full supporting mod list it might do a decent amount up high.

but as it stands the way it goes for what you can buy and is known is a 3/3.5 intake tapering down to a nwp or m45 tb. then connect that to a kinetix velocity im. port match the lower intake to the top. then either some crawford headers or ppe lth to a nice exhuast. with that a person can see around 280-290 maybe if the car gods shine down on you and you have all the supporting mods (clutch/flywheel, oil pump, stiff mounts, all the little things that dont make power but help it get out). then its cams, compression, and displacement, and octane. but if you have high compression, or large displacement than you can run some bigger cams...and if you can rev to take advantage of it, you're golden.

but im ranting and talking about crazy stuff right now, but right now my plan is for a m45 tb or nwp tb, and just getting it bored out to a full 75mm all the way through. that's a full 3 inches, and that ll match my intake mani, and an over sized intake will help that. but its all on my to do list. who knows by the time i get around to it, it can be completely different or i could be proved wrong.

I got my PPE longtubes installed yesterday finally. That was a fun install...

Anyway, now its on to fabbing this plenum. I am going to use my uncles welder. He has a nice Lincoln TIG welder. I need to purchase some parts for it to be able to do aluminum though. So hopefully, I can get started on that within the next few weeks. Can't wait to get this thing on and see what it makes on the dyno. I am not expecting super high numbers because my engine is beat down and wore out, but this will allow me to get the majority of the tuning done on it before I swap to the other motor which will have some JWT cams in it. It will also allow me to see a ballpark of how much more power it will make. Last time it was on the dyno, it only made 248. With the addition of longtubes and this huge intake setup, I am realistically hoping for 280-290ish. That would be a gain of 30-40hp.

When it's all said and done though with other motor (much healthier) and cams, I am hoping for 320-330whp.

I like how realistic you are about your numbers. Unfortunately there won't be a difinative power gained because of the headers

In fixxercast defense, I am one of the reasons why the project is going very slow I was going to do the main fabrication on his plenum, but due to a family medical emergency has left me no time. That's why I have parted out my racecar and on the sidelines of Motorsports for a while.

He is super determined to finish this, no worries about not having a finished product

Why do you think the headers will not result in any power gains over OEM cast manifolds?

He's talking about definitive gains with the intake and tb. The headers will skew the results.

Oh I got ya. Sorry, I am a little slow sometimes.

Yea, I won't know how much one helped more than the other, but together they should make a good amount of power.

Just ordered all my welding parts and accessories to be able to TIG weld this thing. It should all be here some time next week.

Anyone know a good place to buy various mandrel bent aluminum pipes? I have looked at a lot of places and most of everything is polished which I don't want to pay extra for because I am hacking it up and I don't really care if it's polished.

So far this is the best place I found that does not have polished pieces and they have enough variety of bends that will work.

Oh man!! You need to go to a pipe store, get schedule 10 pipe or a heavy gauge piping, it will work great for you and will probably be like $10 for everything you need. If you were here in Houston I would suggest a place, but I don't know what there is in Ohio.

The best part about these peices is they are made for fabrication
