Ordered the cams, springs, shims and spring compressor tool today. That was a nice punch to the wallet!
So change of plans. I am going to install cams and the handful of other parts on the spare motor I have and swap that motor into the car in the coming weeks. Once new motor is in and ready to go, I will then take it to the dyno. I plan on tuning this motor with the OEM plenum/TB/intake and see what kind of power it makes. Then swap the new plenum/TB/intake on and tune it. That way I can see how much more power this thing adds or doesn't add. Same day, same dyno, yadda yadda yadda...

Haha...
Unfortunately no. Many years down the road perhaps. Or just an insane 8500 rpm revving VQ monster. For the class I want to run in, I will never need more than 330whp at my current weight. So who knows.

Cleaned it up and painted it.
Been spending time looking over the FSM for all this work about to happen. Patiently waiting for all my parts to get here. Just because the timing chain and all that will be coming off, I think I should replace the tensioners and maybe the chains just to cover my a$$. I guess we'll see what it all looks like when its all apart.

Got all my parts. Got the motor tore down enough to do all the work needed. Got the new rod bolts, oil pump, Viton valve seals, JWT springs and shims all installed. Tomorrow I will be checking cold clearances on all the buckets. I've only checked one cylinder so far and they are all too tight actually. Looks I will be ordering some buckets along with new timing chain tensioners and guides for good measure. So after tomorrow, its order more parts to finish this thing then wait until they get here. Racing season is fast approaching. Got to get it all done.

Took the day off work yesterday and spent all day in the garage. Cams installed finally with the 22 new buckets I had to order to have correct valve lash. New motor is 90% done. Have to install accessories (power steering, alternator..etc) then she is ready to go in. Pulled the old motor yesterday and installed new Z1 solid motor mounts. Should be able to install new motor in the car today. If all goes well, hopefully dyno in a few weeks.

Motor is in!
Spent all day in the garage yesterday again. I have to put core support and rest of the front end of the car back together today and hopefully get it started soon. Then dyno time!
